Sorry nothing big. I hurt my back a bout 2 weeks ago and have been taking it easy. I will probably not be able to do any serious work on the truck until after Christmas.

I did try the new intermittent brake cable, and you wouldnt believe it, but...............

IT DID NOT FIT, IT WAS TO LONG.

So now I have two intermittent cables that are for a 68 chevy short step side, one that is too short and one that is too long. It can't be this hard to find a part to fit.

Is there anyone out there that has a 68 short step side truck and replaced the intermittent cable. If so where did you buy it. I have tried to different vendor and still havn't recieved the right part.

Man, sorry to hear about your back, and the wrong parts
as far as the cables, do you have measurements of both cables?

Dude, that bites! I tore my back up 7 years ago (L5/S1), had fusion surgery 2 years later that made my back way worse than it was so I know where you're coming from. Take it easy and don't try to work through it because all it takes is one twist or lift and your life will never be the same again.

Awesome build!

Peace,

Mike

Back is much better, thanks for asking. How ever I have not had any time or extra $$ to make any progress. I get a little discouraged when I go into the garage, because when I left it, it was a mess and still is. It may take a good day to get it cleaned. I'm sure I will find some motivation soon, the gas tank is a little low and a trip to the local gas station my give me that motivation.

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!

it's been really nice that last two days. I may even go into the garage and clean it up a bit so I can get back to work on Lemon Drop.

Ok, I spent the better part of my Saturday night reading this entire build thread, nice truck by the way, so the least you could is go out tomorrow and do just one thing to your truck. Even if it isn't significant, just one thing...

I'd hate to disappoint you, so yesterday I did two things. I went for a drive to the gas station and put 10 gallons in the tank which was almost $45.00. It was a nice drive, but the engine is running rough and stalled when I stopprd or turned slowly. The second thing I did was crack the rear window. I guess I had the seat moved to far back, so it was pushing against the window. I think that and the movement of the drive to the gas station cracked the window from the right side to the center. OOOPPPPS.

If you count cleaning the garage as doing something, well I did that too. Now it is already for getting messy again. I also put my Chevy II 153 CI 4 cylinder engine on an engine stand.

I think that make 4 things I did. Now I just need som $$$$$ so I can continue that work on Lemon Drop. Oh a little extra free time would be great too.

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!

Wow, you did plenty! I am glad to see you were able to spend some time in the garage. I really enjoyed your build thread. I started with a cab and I am slowly moving forward. I work full time and I am a full time college student so I know how precious family time is as well as garage time. And if I could just win the lotto I could actually afford my project! lol Anyway, thanks for sharing your project.

Oh, and sorry to hear about the back glass... bummer.

I'm afraid not. I've been spending a lot of time working on the honey do list and studying for a promotion at work. It very hard trying to study after many many years out of school and I easily get distracted by other things

I have been putting away a little money every month and may be able to buy some tires and a bed wood kit soon.

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!

OK, I got something done that didn't take alot of time, just a chunk of money. I bought tyres. Nitto NT555 all around. 245-35-20 in the front and 275-35-20 in the rear. I opted not to go with the Toyo Proxes S/T II's, 255-40-20 for the front and 295-40-20 in the rear because I didn't think there would be enough room for the truck to bottom out with no air in the bags and because I wanted a lower profile tire all around.

I have not yet put the center caps on, but it should be easy has they just pop in. The first pic, is max height. Second is ride height and the third is low height, about 2 inched from bottoming out.

Fourth Pic is max height and Fifth pic is low height.

Well I tried to add some pictures and received this error

"Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing"

Once I get it fixed I will add the pictures. In the meantime you will just have to let your imagination get the best of you. I will say Lemon Drop looks good with new shoes.

With the help of my Daughter, I also made a video of the air bag travel.

Looks good! (wheels in the vid )

The error was the pictures being too large...you'll either need to upload them somewhere else and link them here or re-size them...

I couldn't air it out, cause the rear tyre would hit the lip of the rear fender. I may remove the 1inch spacer on the rear and go with a thinner, 1/4 inch (I think) instead. I'll try to do that this week end.
