Re: 1969 Short Wide
thanks Scott.
Thanks Kyle, not so fast, still have rust to fix! dang it. Quote:
I bought the floor pans from Kenny's trucks but they are the same as LMC. It is pretty thin like .035" thick I think? (not correct to the oem) Mine didn't have the brake at the front either. If you are doing a short repair like I did on the driver side it's not too bad. But because the panel shape is off it pulled when I got it where it need to be at the seam. In hindsite, I should have left the gap at the front seam and made the floor match. I had no less than 15 hours in just the front pan and kick panel (another POS!). The UPOL weld through primer I ordered online. HERE is where I got mine from. It was 2 years ago though. You may be able to find it somewhere else cheaper? I haven't seen it locally, but maybe one of OKC car paint stores carry it? Quote:
Thanks Drew, You are welcome to use mine any time. The passenger side didn't spot weld as good as the driver. I'm not sure if I waited too long after the weld through primer was added or what? I ended up drilling and mig welding half of it. When I "tweaked" the rocker it broke several of the spot welds. Ideally, I think bare metal to metal works the best for spot welds but I was worried about rust starting right away so I coated both with the Upol. |

I honestly think I would buy a semi truck load of them if I could find a deal on them. I have no doubt they would sell. Back when I first started working on these old trucks you could find them pretty easy around here only needing rockers. Now.....good luck. Thanks Billy. How's your build going? |

Re: 1969 Short Wide
It is ok. I haven't worked on it recently but did buy my steering rack today. So, little by little I am at least getting the parts.

Re: 1969 Short Wide
Hey fellow board members I have a little poll here, I am working on my plans for paint. I'm pretty well set on what I want but I wonder if I'm just getting old? Anyway, which do you like better? Keep in mind, I have 3" X 5" drop and will have Polished Coy's (18-20") or Polished Billets??? (18-20"). Sorry I don't have photoshop skills or I would make a mock up of each one.
Opinions Solid red (not Porche red but Victory Gm)? Victory Red with white cap and middle? Solid Black? |

Re: 1969 Short Wide
I like the second pic
*polished billets *red/white top/white center also noticed that one painted the front windshield pillars and door window frames white. I like that better than the roof on the first.

Re: 1969 Short Wide
Nice looking mirrors. Are those the 71-72 sport mirrors or something else?
I am going to use 68-69 Camaro mirrors on mine that look similar but the mirror head is just a little different.

I guess I'm odd I like solid colors I'd go all black. But if I just had to go 2-tone the 2nd pic would be mine.
