Re: Loadmaster '47 COE

The flat lands of Oklahoma, it pretty much all looks the same until you get into the edge of the Rockies in Colorado. Passed a factory where they make the wind turbines, there are hundreds of these waiting for shipments. I would estimate they are about 75 foot long per blade and 6 to 8 foot in diameter at the mounting flange. I will try to get some pictures of the local salvage yards, they are gold mines for old trucks.

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE

I finally found something I could outrun. There is a lot of these old trucks running around in Southern Colorado with very little rust. We went up to Estes park and spotted these Elk in a pond, yes there is still snow on the Rockies. I did do some minor changes to the truck: I added a quick disconnect with air hose to fill tires of run air tools. My compressor puts out 10 CFM while the engine is running so it was handy to patch a tire for my son. I also added a Poo sheet to the Yogo mat for comfort (and style?). We're over 3K on the trip so far and starting for home later today after a round of Golf with an old friend in Wichita.

Very cool pics! You were finding a lot of trucks for sure. I really like the pic of the elk in the pond. Too cool. Have a safe and uneventful trip back home!

two things,

1. I wish I had known, looks like blue jeep was in town today too based on his project thread.

2. I bet you are seriously regretting the round of golf, the heat index is 106 and the humidity means I havent been outside for more than a minute or two.

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE

Yes, it was hot, hot, hot playing golf. Do I turn around for the sighs? nope I watch the GPS it's got a dotted line for state lines. A few more shots: Somewhere in Kansas my CB antenna decided it had had enough wind and snapped over. A couple of things I picked up at yard sales in the country side. An old steamer chest which I will convert into an engine cover to replace the box. Some old Caddy hub caps. A Shock Top beer tap handle, could make a cool shifter knob. I think I picked up every bug in the mid-west. Home now, total miles 3,873. Average mileage 16.29 MPG. Truck issues: one broken CB antenna, one leaking air fitting on the air ride system (was able to repair on the road). Biggest complaint: I need AC!!!

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE

Sweet trip with very little issues The bugs just show ppl you drive it. If you didn't know all beer tap handles use a 3/8"x 18 thread I had to make an adapter out of brass for mine. Nice Chest my GF would love to have one like that.

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE

So I've been working on a new engine cover, the box worked I just wanted to try something different. I made a steel hinged support with some stops on the inside and then added the wood with a cutout for the engine cover. I still need to do the front wood panel. I just can't decide which way I want to go: I have a old steamer trunk (kinda large) I can cut the bottom out of and use it, or I have an old smaller tool box that I could do the same to or I could just leave the Vortec engine cover exposed. You guys got any input on this? The box is no longer an option because I used the wood for the cover.
Rob

I like the box, but it looks like it is taking up a lot of real estate.
