Re: 72 K30 Build

No biggie, hope that helps Mike. As far as high build goes our painter has been using Keystone Key 3 n 1, it’s a fairly new 2-part product. It was recommended by a long-time paint supplier, my thoughts are it must be good because several of my painter friends are using it. 2nd link bottom of page 5 gives the specifics.

Ready to be picked up after a final wet sand and polish. Such a fuss over white paint!

It’s a 54 Scott, neat old car that got a recent Roadkill write up.

Here’s all the stuff so far, staged in storage for now while the cab gets it’s turn.

Re: 72 K30 Build

Not mine, it belongs to a really good friend of mine. As a matter of fact, I just had to tease and told him his crusty old corvette was going to infect my nice truck parts!

Ha, here’s a pic of the headless painter with his 4-legged car wash mitt!

Also a few cab progress pics and more products used, reducer & kitty hair.

Ha, yah right, thanks Rick!

The patches from the small hole are disappearing and the back of our cab is getting pretty flat.

Thank’s, Ryan. In doing some research I ran across this style of an isolator and liked this one particularly because of the push button to connect batteries feature.

Started working on door panels and dung out door glass and vent windows. Stuff is in amazing shape spent some quality time with the vent windows, the felts are in great shape and the rubbers are now reconditioned and ready to go again. In the last pics, you can see the condition of the felts, right side has some sun fade but a few minutes with a black sharpie and it looks just as good as the left.

Re: 72 K30 Build

Used Mrs. 7dee2’s blow dryer on the lowest setting, could’ve used the shop heat gun but was concerned about too much heat on that old part, delamination etc.

Freshened up a nice set of correctly dated seat belts using the best buckle covers and buttons we have. Some 45-year-old crud right there and man you should have seen Mrs. 7dee2’s sink! Uh, Oh!

Re: 72 K30 Build

Thank’s Rick, some soda pop, grease, hugger orange paint and 45 years of various yuck does make a great preservative! The red background just gives a wowza factor!

This stuff is mainly donated from our C10 project that’s slowly getting a red interior. Most of the RV’s interior except for the dash pad (same one pictured earlier) was sold and replaced before we’d acquired it. Previous forum member sharpie72 (Dennis) told me that it had a parchment (also on the SPID) interior that was in fantastic shape and sold shortly after he got the truck.

After a very thorough cleaning and really light coat of paint to match our console from earlier. Installed some trim and inserts, this stuff is now ready to join the rest of the interior.

Re: 72 K30 Build

Decided we needed a set of these speaker brackets from forum member bigblock73 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=476976 they’ll be body color when done. Here’s a pic of a test fit with them just mounted up top, we’ll wait till we have the carpet and sound deadening to finish the install.
