Hey Diesel,
The motor is a remanufacture performance crate motor from Phoenix Engines. It a small bock 350 out of a 1974 police car, going by the numbers on the block. The motor is rated at 330 hp. It's not to wild, but has enough to get her rolling down the road. It has a mid grade cam with a gear drive timing, Edlbrock Performer carb and a Mallory HEI distributor.

Re: 58 GMC Project

I actually just replaced the distributor and starter motor today, I was having lots of problems with both. I went to check if the starter was working and I guess there was some unburned gas in the cylinder cuzz the thing fired right up like a champ. Ive been really busy with school and what not the last couple months. I just turned 20 on sunday so I am feeling the pressure of not having a vehicle to drive all the time. Next thing on my agenda is getting the rest of the sheetmetal painted and then get the truck registered

I have three of my kids in college right now and that all are studying real hard right now getting ready for finals, so I understand how busy you are with school. When you get the rest of your truck painted post some updated picture.

Re: 58 GMC Project

I re-sized the last photos I posted.

Quote:
Here's an update of what’s going on right now. The beds still in for paint. I had a delay on the bed paint due to the fact that I was waiting on a set of bed wheel tubs I'm going to have to run. I just got them in so the progress should start rolling again. I've got the power windows installed now and the door solenoids are now in and working. I had some issues with the air valve set up for the bags. I ended up taking the truck to one of our local body drop/air bag fabricator's to have them re-do the system with new air valves. The door panels are in for upholstery now. I have the seats back with a new set of Katzins leather covers and the headliner is done and installed. Here are a few pictures.

Very Clean! That Dynamat is expensive, huh? I did the section behind my seat where the gas tank was. I'm going to use a material like a ruberized bedliner for the floor pans, toe boards, and roof. I think I'm also going to undercoat the bottom of the cab. Keep up the good work. Daniel U

The Dynamat is very expensive! If you ask me it's way to expensive. To do my cab ran me about $375. It does work though.

Hi Cal 58 Those pictures look great.. When I get my truck,(some day) I'd like to get the same steering colum as yours. Really contributes to the awesome look of the interier. Are you happy with the 30 inch or could it have been longer?

i am using a product called "peel n' seal" it is the same stuff as dynamat, but it is only about $1 psf. it is in the roofing section at lowe's. that's all dynamat is anyway, they just print their name on it and charge $5 psf. it comes in 6" or 12" wide rolls.

check it out.

Look'n Great Cali! She'll be a driver in no time! I still haven't had much time for mine.

I hope to get back on track and figure out the tranny mount so I can get the drive train bolted in. I will update my post when I get something done. Thanks for inspiring!

Don't want to hijack this thread but I've gotta tell ya, I used 2 rolls of peel and seal on the inside of my Burb roof and wasn't very impressed. I suppose it's better than nothing, but Dynamat definately has some other components that make it deaden acoustics much more effectively. My $0.02... Now back to the regularly scheduled broadcast

I still have my doors to do and after going to B-Quiet's web site, I will be doing the rest of it with their product. It's much cheaper then Dynamat. Here's a link to their web site.
