Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Well, that's already a work in progress, just not via WFO (hint - it's with an industry insider). I won't make it for this years since the truck won't be ready by November (heck, Mario hasn't even started & he needs about 3 months to do all his paint & body work), but we are shooting for next years show. WFO would attend with me, as would Mario & Roman (upholstery) I am sure.
Nice thing is that next years SEMA would tie in very nicely with one of my planned vacations back home! |

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Here's kind of what I am thinking about for the shifter arm & knob on my NV4500. The arm look isn't exact, but gives the idea - also it would be in a polished finish to match the other trim. Would make a slightly smaller matching knob for the NP205 with its pattern engraved.
Both will most likely have a factory style rubber boot, but will get rectangle shaped polished aluminum trim rings with the same black button head bolts I will be using everywhere else in the cab. The Snow SafeInjection kit already arrived at the shop - as did the ATI balancer & pulley kit for the supercharger application. The supercharger will be ordered this week when they send out the Mast valve covers to Whipple so everything can be match powder coated prior to shipping. Should get some more pics this week of more parts & hopefully of some of the progress!!! |

Just read the whole shebang, and I remember seeing the rendering in Truckin. Looks great man! I'm gonna pay attention here.

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Man I knew Geening was costly but had no idea hood hinges would range that high! Have you checked out the ring brothers offerings?
I know these are for 67-72's but they could possibly be adapted? http://www.ringbrothers.com/index.cf...Product_ID=417 Last edited by SledBurban; 10-03-2011 at 09:34 PM. Reason: added link |

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
I've looked at Ring Brothers stuff, but they don't sell an application for my truck & when I contacted them about making a set they basically blew me off... There's always a possibility of adapting a set for another vehicle to my truck, but not headed in that direction just yet.

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Believe me, they were one of the very first people I contacted.... Calling isn't always easy from here, but I did send them emails - all were met with the same response - we are to busy to help you....
Somehow betting that I had a famous name I could get better service, but alas I am just a regular guy & they aren't interested in assisting me. |

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
It's amazing how many companies in the US are straying away from one off parts. I wonder if Kevin, Mekdad, could help you. He has a machine shop, I believe in Wa, and loves building one off pieces. He's made me several billet emblems and his prices and work are great!

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Hmm, got to looking around at center console/jump seat options because I think that the Tuffy one I bought is just to darn "utilitarian" once I got a look at how the new interior rendering is coming along....
Found this one online & REALLY like it!!! Sending the info to the shop & they want to try it I think I'll swoop it up! Would be nice to be able to have an additional seat should I ever need it. This one also has lots of storage & even comes with a 12V outlet already! |

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Looks like a stock 2007+ Silverado unit - identical to the one in my 2009 work truck. 12v outlet is in the box under the seat...

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
You've got more money in your hood hinges than I do in my whole truck
But your truck in its current state is already nicer than mine

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
just caught up on your build. I understand your frustration in "shopping" from where you are. I remember being in OIF in '03 and writing letters (yeah, on paper) to several aftermarket providers about go-fast parts for my ol girl. To my surprise I got a package back from ONE company with a letter thanking me for my service, telling me about what they offered, along with a t-shirt and some stickers. Can you guess who got my business when I got home?
As for your machining woes, sounds like the answer to your situation is the old guy who isn't in the yellow pages, has been doin machining for 50+ years, and likes to chat for while when you stop by. TOO BAD THOSE GUYS ARE MORE ELUSIVE THAN A WINNING LOTO TICKET!!!!! If I had a mill and lathe in my garage I would be begging for your business!

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Ok, so here's the rendering that Ryan & I came up with for the interior scheme & overall look. The stitching on the dash may not follow exactly to the pic, but I'll let Roman worry about that end of it. The gauge bezel is going to get 5 individual sections - all held on with small black button head screws. Think it looks pretty killer & can't wait to see it in real life!!!

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Yep, emailed them as well as Ring Brothers after trying Fesler - all gave about the same response... That's why I was so excited when Greening said they would help - well, right up until the $4,500.00 estimate that is!!!

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
$4500 sounds pretty reasonable to me. I wouldn't do it for that. I guarantee Jesse wasn't wasn't going to make any money on those.Thats how it works doing prototype work. Thats why nobody else will do them, unless you were to order like 200 sets. Then, they would cost $500-$600! Trust me, Jesse was not trying to rip anyone off, he does beuatiful work, & is a genuinely nice guy.
Anyone who says they can do those on their Bridgeport in their garage is full of it! Plus they will look like someone did it on a Bridgeport in their garage! I would spend the $4500! |

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Never thought for a minute that Jesse or anyone there was trying to "rip me off" - simply more than I was willing to go for that particular mod & had no idea going in what to expect cost wise...
Waiting to see what WFO can do - they can design them with their software & they have a shop with a CNC that can cut them as well. |

For your hood hinges also try Heath Elmer, he's the man and doesn't charger normal shop prices.

May give him a shout if I don't like what WFO tries to come up with - we'll see. Gotta be a little patient & let things develop I suppose...
