Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Went to the Falls TX. and got my drive shaft shortened.
Installed it when I got home. Connected the trans cooler lines. Also received my JEG's order today; Edelbrock carb brackets for the 700r4 TV cable. Just like everything else, they are going to work with some modifications for my liking, but at this point I am used to buying stuff and having to modify/change it. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Picked up grade 8 bolts for the motor mounts today. DANG! Those things have gone through the roof. Not a huge purchase, but still...
Hopefully, test fitting the motor and trans this weekend so I can build a cross member. The PO used a piece of angle iron that was not even bolted in, just laying there! Steven

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I towed the truck home from my office today and popped the rear diff cover. Found a bunch of metal and not enough oil. Went online and found a good rear end out of a '78 for $200 complete from drum to drum and a 3.73 gear, plus he loaded it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
When you're posting a pic, click on the little paper click looking icon, search where the pic is at on your computer and upload. From a mobile phone you need a photo bucket acct. Upload pics to your photobucket acct. From PB click on pic, click menu and copy the link that says direct and has http/ in front of it. Now when posting pic here from mobile click on the yellow looking square with a mtn in it, paste the link and there is you're pic posted on here. Send me a private message and I'll help you. Good luck.

That don't look good at all. At least you found another rear end and will be going in no time. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Well I got the 700r4 filled up and drive her around a bit, but as MY luck would only have it I am still hearing noise. I am thinking now it has to be the rear end! I hear it when I get out of the gas and slowing (stopping etc...) then when I get back in the gas it goes away, or I just can't hear it... I have run it up on stands and spun the tires by hand and can hear a thing. I had a 77 with kind of the same issue, no noise with out load on it. I replaced the rear end on it and every thing is fine now, so I am thinking of the same action on Sally...
Maybe get a covertiom kit and use a newer rear end... Posted via Mobile Device

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Had to put the passenger tire on and drop the jack. Maybe could have gone with a 2" drop coil instead of the 1" with the 2.5" drop spindle. I'll see after I get both sides done and drive it awhile.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Took it out for its first drive that wasn't a kind of shakedown run and had a rear wheel bearing blowout completely and lock up the right rear wheel. Spent about 5 hours running to parts stores and working on it. 3 bearings later, none fit right. Luckily it was only about 3 blocks from the house and was able to get tools I needed easily. Had to knock on a neighbor's door and ask to plug my extension cord into their house in order to grind off the bearing remnants. In the end, had to order one that won't be here for 2 days. Put it back together without the inner bearing and limped it home where it will sit for a few days. Luckily, this didn't happen yesterday on the highway when I was going 65 mph or that I didn't have my daughter with me, cuz she was supposed to learn how to drive a manual today.
