Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Well I spent most of the day online trying to be frugal looking for a used 2011 6.2 Ltr supercharged LSA altenator bracket.... altenator...and a tailshaft for a 6L90E. Just wanted to make sure I could get the bracket and altenator to clear the frame rail on my 66 before I bought a new dealer setup and then find out I have to make something. I guess at some point you just have to jump into the deep end and sink or swim....lol

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
FInally Finally got the rear sitting where I want to, no not mine my truck's...
Moved up the hangers and put on a set of 2" shackles, thinking that would get her low enough after notching frame....Ahhhh Nope So after much debate about moving hangers again and decided against it, Bought a set of U bolts and 2" block from Autozone to get er' low. The pic with the stepper is where it sat originally.... Im considering taking off one of the "donuts" , made up of two "donuts sitting on one another with a metal tube in the middle, from the cab mounts to get it sitting lower.....What do y'all think? Would it be rougher ride? Great work fellas |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Just finished installing the 2.5" CPP drop spindles along with their 1" drop coil, new drop shocks and also upgraded the rotors and calipers. Handles like a slot car. Very happy with they way it drives and handles. Next weekend the rear shocks and sway bar.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Continued working on the installation of the 73 Disc Brake front suspension for my 64. I got real lucky this weekend. The local self service wrecking yard had a 1/2 off sale and I happen to find a 74 C-10 with the motor removed leaving the engine bay wide open. I pulled ALL the brake lines & the proportioner valve. The proportioner valve, all the brackets & attaching bolts "fell" into my pockets, I walked out paying $20.95. I cleaned everything up with gasoline followed with Awesome Orange, rinsed with water & blown dry with compressed air. That took up about 1/2 my day on Saturday. I installed the brake lines today with a little tweeking they look like they were made for my 64. I just need to mount a piece of 3" x 1" box tubing between the frame rails so I can attach the proportioner valve and to protect & mount the front brake lines. As a bonus I was able to use the factory oblong holes in the frame to mount the flex brake hoses. I purchased two 5/8" -18 jamb nuts and locked down the flex hoses. I don't trust the stamped metal locking nuts with the amount of torque I'm going to use to hold the flex hoses in place.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Not done much with my crew cab for quite some time. But last weekend I grabbed my parts from storage in SoCal and brought them back to the Bay Area: Long stepside bed, new rockers and a few other items. Truck goes to body shop in the next few weeks.
This weekend I did score on a 99+ 9.5" 14 bolt rear end with posi and disc brakes for a steal. Came off a 37000mi GMC 3/4 ton Sierra 4x4 that converted to Dana's F&R. Also scored a stock bench from a 69. Having both front and rear benches recovered with classic tuck n roll. Not sure on the color yet... That's it for now....

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Took the rear end out so I can kinda clean things up while the new rear is being assembled. A leaking axle seal can make a mell of a hess.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Nothing today per se, but in the last week or so I replaced the driver side window regulator, refurbished the instrument cluster, installed a factory radio (just the face really, threw the case away), and installed a choke cable finally after dealing with hard starts on the cold mornings. Also, after scoring a complete set of power steering pump brackets I found on the very first truck in the very first junk yard I tried (amazing, really) I finally started working on my power steering swap. Big thanks to captainfab for the awesome frame brackets...wish my welds looked half that nice!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
put new motor mounts on, finish blasting and painting the intake and installed it with polished button heads.
Going to drop the engine and trans in soon so I can fab up a trans crossmember. I really need to find a decent set of valve covers. I don't want to go chrome but, all of the steel ones I find have dents in them. It's coming along! Steven

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Got the wheel bearing fixed yesterday, after many trips to various parts stores. Today, took my daughter out for a little manual transmission driving lesson. I think she did better than I did when I was learning 30 years ago.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
seriously.. I wonder sometimes why prices at junk yards keep increasing.. could it be because people keep letting stuff "fell" into their pockets without paying???

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Picked up a set of open box valve covers today. They aren't staying chrome though.
$10 I have to get exhaust manifolds, plug wires and plugs and the engine is done. Steven

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Yeah, CRGRS66, it was awesome. Especially since she is 19 and my last one at home and is moving to PA in May. She's been working and saving her butt off to save for the move and getting set up to start college. Really proud of her, and all my kids. They are doing well, but I am not sure I am ready for an empty nest. Big house is gonna be lonely.
