Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Drove my LS powered 67 from Long Beach CA to Coronado Island on Friday. I drove it back home tonight to my home in Pasadena. Ran like a champ and even got to show a few imports, European, what old American iron with a modern motor will do.

Thumbs up Re : Driving Report

Just so ~

Often as I'm driving my '69 C/10 Stepper home up the Pasadena freeway with it's wheezing 250 I6 I'll get into the fast lane before reaching Highland Park and whizz past those lowered crap cans and BMW's etc. through the Av. 64 underpass @ 75 + MPH ~ I can see their eyes big as saucers as they slow down and I don't .

These trucks really handle well right out of the box with just good rubber & shocks ~ no tire squealing , no drifting , nothing , it just goes where I point it .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Took the headliner off and painted it from blue to black, cleaned and resprayed the trim with silver to brighten it back up( because I refuse to spend 129.00 for repop junk). Cleaned the interior walls and sprayed the door panels also from blue to black, ordered some headers and gonna get the exhaust done next week!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I spoke with and emailed Wes from Classic Heartbeat about just how my cab to frame bushings go. Apparently I was right on the money!

I paid for a cab firewall patch panel and began the process of getting a set of front brackets for my grill.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

At the suggestion of a Forum Member, I bought this for after the paint cures:

http://tinyurl.com/pym422x

The Ultrashield version.

Since her (wife's) car just got hit by a bunch of quarts of bad stuff when someone rolled over in front of us, and the
garage has only one good spot, RAT will have to stay outside after The Boss' car gets its $4,862 worth of paint work.

By the time her car is out of the body shop, my paint will have "gassed off".

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Just put in for a set of grill brackets and other brackets I might need. Checked on powder coating vs. just painting the core support and inner fenders. I will probably just paint everything.

Called and found out my carb will be ready Friday.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Was helping my Aunt clean out her garage when my wife said "hey this looks like it came off your truck" Sure enough it was the piece of missing trim from the drivers side quarter panel on my 67!

That's the good news...the bad news is I came home with a lot of junk from that garage Albeit really old, really cool junk. Such as a 3' Prestone Antifreeze wall thermometer, Craftsman tool box, vintage tools, antique wooden ice box refrigerator, fishing rods and some chairs my great grandfather restored including a high chair my great-great-great grandfather sat in as a baby!

I can't answer for him but my 67 with a 327 4 barrel carb, turbo 400, and Eaton 457 gears running down the road get about 6 mpg...
