Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Added a little bit of rust perventive paint on some bad spots until I can get the chance to start tearing it down.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
This last weekend I finally got my cherry picker and engine stand, so I pulled out the donor motor from where it was sitting in the back of the bed and mounted it on the engine stand. I Degreased more of the donor engine, now that it is on the stand.
This upcoming weekend I will start pulling off the hood and front clip. Then its time to start removing the heads, intake and carb, and everything else off the blown engine and transfer them to the donor engine. After that, time to paint the engine. The engine paint that I bought ended up too greenish, so I am going to have to bite the bullet and buy some more engine paint that is the shade of blue I am looking for. I found some that will work out a lot better. I just don't want to get the engine installed and regret the color choice of the engine block and see that it clashes with all my blue accents (spark plug wires, distributor cap, radiator hose, etc.). Also got in my mirrors, so I might get them installed this weekend. After I took the engine out from the bed, the back rose up about 3 to 4 inches. Looked good with it down, so now I'm on the hunt for some TJ springs at a reasonable price. It looks super raked now.

Be pulling the cluster after work. Truck went to turn over 75999 on the odometer and stuck last night. I have a spare speedometer, but hoping the original just needs lubed.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I took the cab off the frame. All this was done by 2 people and no machines (except I used an SUV to pull the frame out of the way once the cab was off).

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Rewired the dash cam to draw power from the old electric clock circuit coming from the hot side of the battery disconnect. Now I can electrically shut down the entire truck and with the flip of a switch still leave the camera running, for example when left unattended in a parking lot.

63mouse,
What color and brand of paint did you use? It'll look really good after a cut and buff. Nice job! Steven

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Pulled the hood and front clip off. Had my two 11 year old non-mechanically inclined boys helping me. Used the cherry picker for all of it. I was scared that one of them was going to let go if something and some of the body or paint would get damaged. They did fine, it was me that I should have watched out for... I ended up tweaking the grill surround (the part of the body above the grill) because I had the straps around it and the good release. The front clip wasn't coming off the frame. Stupid me! I hope I can bend it back some from the inside.

Worked on my inner fenders for the last two days. It's a ton of work to do something custom and then try to make it all look factory

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Installed a rear shock relocation kit with new lowering shocks, adjustable trac bar with relocation kit. Also wire wheeled my trailing arms and painted with eastwood extreme chassis paint and then installed new poly bushings. Need to finish the trac bar tomorrow and put the rear sawy bar on. Also installed my E brake setup from another board member and and works great.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I picked up my new to me rear end in my trailer. Then when we (wife and I) got home we had to unload it & put it up on saw horses!
My wife said (after we got it out and on the horses) & I quote "This is not $ucking woman's work". It was really heavy and it was all she could do to get it out of the trailer and just hold it! She is a great woman for always helping me even when it hurts her! It was really to heavy for her to be lifting but she is a trooper and did it anyway! Posted via Mobile Device

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
When you are doing the rear end double check your ride hieght against drive shaft clearance. I ran a 3 inch aluminum one piece shaft with the new 9 inch moser I installed . I had to grind some on the hoop in the frame. No big deal more than enough room though.
