Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

Back in the sixties, I rode out of the log woods many times in an old Mack with three sticks. I never did figure out how the driver knew which gear he needed next. It was quite a treat to watch though. Sometimes we would be a mile or more off the beaten path so he got lots of practice.

^^^When I was a little kid, my dream--off all things--was to be a truck driver.
That exact rig was my dream rig, perfect....just what I wanted.

I just loved riding/driving and thought trucking would do it for me.

Yep. Me too!
I did manage to get my CDL and occasionally drive a dump truck locally.

3 High. Plus a little extra.

I used to carry 3 High all the time on my Flat Beds. I very rarely ever see 3 High anymore. I would finish off at about 13-2 to 13-4 on the road.

Cool looking truck.

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

A great example of nice heavy Chevy (post #727).

With those twin stacks most likely an 8V Detroit.

Here's one that's been floating around our state for a while. This is the second time I've seen it on CL. Someone drug it to a truck show here in October too. Used to have a dump body on it, not sure what came of it.
