Re: Wife's 48

It usually doesn't take much to get them out the door if you are condoning the shopping bug, lol.
I seen a sign behind the paint counter at a body shop supply place. It said
If your wife complains about the price of paint for your car, remind her how much she pays for a few drops of acrylic lacquer in her nail polish bottle. Extrapolate that to equal a gallon of product and she will likely not bring that subject up again

Re: Wife's 48

Got back to town and the Gallo Tech push button start, door lock, alarm thingie was in the mailbox. So today I took a little time to install it and try it out.

It works! The 20 amp power unit even made the starter click when I pushed the start button. Doors locked, radio came on, courtesy lights came on when I opened the doors, and it seems the electrical is working. So I started buttoning up the dash.
IMG_1017 by Robert Moorman, on Flickr

I have to get a real battery now and hook it up and try it all out. Fingers crossed it starts and moves. Then I can move on to finishing stuff up. My woodworking buddy is really antsy to help on the bed wood.

Re: Wife's 48

Thanks Jim and Mongo.

Funny story, I thought about the install for the CPUs for the gauges and light control last night and decided to build another way to secure them under the dash when I realized I might not be able to get to them, if necessary, with the gauges installed. I was using the gauge holes in the dash for access, and I may have to work on the wires, so back to the drawing board.

Re: Wife's 48

Thank Joe.

I think I've been overthinking things again.

I back tracked and built a new bracket for the CPU for the gauges, then installed the duct hose and vent on the driver's side. Will work on the passenger's side today and maybe have pics this evening, unless my OCD kicks in and I see a squirrel, like yesterday with the bracket.

Re: Wife's 48

Thanks Jan. Hope all is well in your life.

I have the front end assembled and most of the wiring is not "loomed up", hope to get that finished today. I'll have some more posts in a day or two.

Re: Wife's 48

Wow it's been a while since I checked in on your build. You have done a great job Robert all the details, looks AMAZING!! Laura is going to love driving it around. I find wiring takes forever to get your head wrapped around it then once you get all the wires run in the right direction it goes fairly quick. Keep up the good work the end is in sight. Did I miss the exhaust part or is still to come?

I REALLY like the looks of that dark green next to the chrome. All of your progress is looking great. You will be driving it in no time.

Re: Wife's 48

Lower50s, thank you, very kind of you to say.

No, the exhaust is yet to come. That is probably way out of order, but I just haven't gotten into that and will need some professional help.

Re: Wife's 48

I got some parts I needed to complete some of the projects I have left. First, the shot of the front end complete.
IMG_1030 by Robert Moorman, on Flickr

Then I was finishing up the dash and needed to put the glove box in. Finally got the lock and realized I had no trim to install the box. So, I took an old piece of carpet trim from my Cherokee that I had saved, it was too messed up to use on it,
IMG_1026 by Robert Moorman, on Flickr

And this stuff,
IMG_1029 by Robert Moorman, on Flickr

And made this,
IMG_1028 by Robert Moorman, on Flickr

Then painted and installed,
IMG_1032 by Robert Moorman, on Flickr

And now the dash looks like this,
IMG_1031 by Robert Moorman, on Flickr

I installed the window run for plain glass and took the fully assembled 48 windows with the steel frames to ACME glass for them to cut new side windows.

Now to get that battery and make sure everything works correctly.

I'm just catching up on things. You have made great progress. I really like the dark green and chrome look. The front shot looks fabulous. Where did you get the center strip down the hood? Is it stainless or chrome?

Re: Wife's 48

Thanks Fox. The strip down the hood is stainless from LMC.

Joe and Greg, thanks for the kind words.

I have had a mental wall. I'm to the point where I can think of way too many excuses to work on the truck, but I think today I'll push through and see what I can get done.

Re: Wife's 48

Well, the day is getting closer. I can see the day when we are driving down the road, listening to tunes and grinning from ear to ear, it is a video of our first start in my garage with all the electronics installed. You may have to double click it to hear the start up.
IMG_1686 by Robert Moorman, on Flickr

Ok, between the Gallo Technologies GT-3 push button starter and the Dakota Digital auto lights, I've got to figure out what is up with the alarm and the dome light, but it starts!!!

Has anyone used the Gallo GT-3? If so, please PM me as I have some questions.

Thanks
