I have been following this since the beginning and am amazed at the work you are doing. The attention to detail and the really nice safety additions make this a top notch project. Great job.

Drew,
Have you started on the "LS" installation yet? After I seen that Buick last summer and sent you the pics I took, at least you know it's been done, and I hope I took enough pictures and vantage points to make it a little easier for you.
I'm dying to see the paint scheme you are gonna do to this beauty!
Have a good one!

Re: Bride of Young Frankenstein - 1957 Buick Super

Sorry nothing to report, just as the tractor showed up, we had a major hurricane at our beach house rental in the Turks and Caicos Islands. @beachsidebungalow on facebook to see all the work I've been doing there instead of working on the Buick. We didn't sustain much damage, but I ended up volunteering on the island and filling and shipping 2 containers worth of relief supplies and building materials. Lots of coordination efforts and I was on island for 2 months. I'm back now, but too backed up to really spend any time out in the garage. So Sorry guys.

The Turks and Caicos is probably a good place to be having to work at. I hope it's all going well Drew!

Re: Bride of Young Frankenstein - 1957 Buick Super

Drew,
I can't possibly tell you how excited I am to see this build. I literally bought a 57 Roadmaster last year, and intend to start it next summer when I get home from deployment.

You do such good work, and i'm happy to see what i'm getting myself in to

Keep it up!

How are things going with this?!?

Re: Bride of Young Frankenstein - 1957 Buick Super

So sorry for not having any updates on this build, we have purchased a 150 acre farm and all my energies and money are being diverted to that now. We'll probably build a new shop with apartment first and move out there mid 2019. I'll have a lot more room for projects and will start back up then.

Hey Drew,

I'm working on the convertible again. The nailhead goes back together over the next few weeks.

Thought it would be fun to spur some updates on the bride!

Re: Bride of Young Frankenstein - 1957 Buick Super

Just finished the thread up to here. Finished reading Young Frankie last week. These have been inspiring me to work on my 71 Suburban 4x4. I rebuilt the transmission a few months ago and I'm rebuilding the engine now. As luck would have it, even with a previous engine rebuild, it is a numbers matching engine minus the cylinder heads.

Hopefully you find some time to finish this Buick up.

Re: Bride of Young Frankenstein - 1957 Buick Super

Well....... the Buick is still as we left it before the move out to the farm last year. We are loving it out in the country on 155 acres, but there is so so much to do. No time for car projects unfortunately.

I did need a getaway car for my son's wedding though, and so I broke down and bought the Buick's kissing cousin. A 1958 Cadillac Coupe De Ville. This is the same main body stamping shared between Buick and Cadillac. Same roof, glass, a and b pillars, etc. From there its all different though. It was fully restored 6 years ago with over $36,000 spent. Rebuilt engine, new trans, new bodywork and paint, complete interior, etc. It was a sunday driver for one family from 1961 until January when I bought it. True 86,000 mile car, minor surface rust on undercarriage only. VERY NICE and all for just $21,000!!!!
