Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

TJ…
Found the tent at Tractor Supply (TSC) on sale…This is the 3rd year and finally had to do something about the top… Found it on sale for $199, The lath boards, metal and screws took $300…
So now I have a metal covered carport with soft sides and roll up doors for $500...

Will do... and drop by anytime!!!

Had a great visit with Clint today... after our chat he offered me a GMC Hood that will be weighed against my chevy hood, one of them will be cut and modified to be a steel cowl hood...

Saw a thread here (Somewhere) that showed an original hood being cut and sectioned into a cowl hood... Gonna attempt that as a side project...

THANKS Clint!

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Good idea on the shed. I've considered enclosing my carport. But I haven't done it. Like the open air in the heat. But then I'd like the closed in part in winter....lol.

Don't you hate that when you have to stop and fix something that is not working on the truck. Even though its the trucks home. I hate stopping and do a garage reset but after 10 minutes of not finding what I'm looking for I have to! Look forward to your progress when you get your time off.

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Chris,
I can't remember if I actually saw a thread that showed the process… or if it was this one…

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=517915

These pics (Copied from the above linked thread) are ones I remember seeing and thinking, "I would like to do that…"

Now that I have been offered a hood, the creative process has begun…

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

No truck time thanks to lots of liquid Sunshine...

So instead… I built a light table for my workstation...

Cleaned out the unit next to us in our strip mall and found a sign frame and computer desk pieces that were left by the previous tenants… about 3 hours into it found me at this point… still need to paint edges of old computer desk pieces…
The last 2 pics show the workstation about a year ago and then today...

Man yer studio is looking sharp! And one day you'll have a sharp truck to park in the lot to. You outta make a door sticker that says "Don's Tattoo Studio" or heck..maybe even a set of stakes with a poster on them.

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

don its a lil funny that you are talking about doing a cowl hood and the black truck that you post with the cowl hood, is the same truck and hood that made me think of wanting to do a cowl hood for my truck! I just hope I can get to it this summer like I planned! if you plan on keeping the 'v' in the hood you will need an extra hood to cut a piece to extended the back to get a lil closer to the window and look right, just like the second pic of the truck! the black hood you posted, mine is going to be a lil wider around 30"-34" wide! just to be a lil different and kind of like the mustang cowl hoods are wide but not taper in at the front of the hood like they do on them! keep it up, buddy I know we are both getting closer to are deadline but still have enough work to do to them to keep us busy!! love the updates, when I get my garage cleaned up a bit this weekend I'll start getting some updates on mine

like the jimmy hood. that little bit of flair on the park lights makes it. the cowl induction is a great idea... and by the way, your studio looks cool. going to have to get down there one day.
