You are correct, Joe. It should be hooked to a ported vacuum. These ports are usually up higher on the carb, above the base.

The little port I was referring to is the stem coming out of the left side between the "float needle and seat" and "float."

Drove the truck at the shop last night.
Runs great. Some brake issues kept me from bringing it home - that will happen today. Went to get some gas (tank initially only had 4 gallons in it during motor break-in) and left it in second on the way back to the shop. Wound it up pretty good and Man, it's certainly different than the old six with TMM (too many miles). The opening in the floor for the shifter has been butchered up a little bit and I'll need to grind off the sharp points that were necessary because of linkage clearance issues. I hope the boot kit I bought covers those sins. No leaks anywhere - so far and I sat at a real long stop light in 85 degrees and the gauge never got above 180. Didn't do the 'punch-it slam-on-the-binders' routine as discussed previously because of the minor brake issues and my gut tells me to drive this ol' girl just like usual, without getting to radical. Mac.

Yeah - I brought my camera, connection hardware and software disc to work today and I've tried to lie to the camera's system but it just says F/U.
The computer system I have to work with here has such an old version of Windows I think they used to call it PortHole and the mouse is an actual rodent that runs on a little wheel in the back of the $19.00 clone tower on my desk. I'll take it back home and plug this gear into my fairly recent HP and see if I can get it to go. I hate having to do this stuff on my time. Mac.
