Re: How about some pics of Static dropped 60-66

Well here she is. 64 swb. First time getting to see and play with one. POL 3/5 drop springs. Will get another 2.5/2 once we do the disc conversion. 292/4spd 3.73 posi. Also as you can see in the last pic. The rear wheels are pushed back pretty far in the wheel well. Is this common when dropping the trucks? And what’s the fix? Shorter drive shaft? Thanks

You would need to move the entire suspension forward to center the rear wheels in the opening. If you look, the front isn't centered either.

I’ve been told that it’s just the driveline that needs shortening. I know the front ones are not centered from the factory that’s why most ppl will buy aftermarket to move them forward. I’ll do some more searching.

Re: How about some pics of Static dropped 60-66

It's very common for the sb stepsides to have the wheels toward the rear of the fender opening. It is also common that the sb fleetsides had the wheels towards the front of the wheel opening. I don't know why, they just do.

You could probably move your bed back slightly but not enough to center it.

Re: How about some pics of Static dropped 60-66

I have gone as low as 5.5 inches in the rear without it bottoming out on the rear axle. 4 in drop coils and 1.5 in blocks. It did not bottom out until I did a 6 in drop.

Re: How about some pics of Static dropped 60-66

235's don't sound to wide to me but 65 does seam a little short. I would find a truck from the sight that you like the look of and ask that person what they have. If you ask 10 people on here what tire size to use you will get 10 different answers.

235's will be really skinny I think. Mine currently has 235's up front, it doesn't look right in my opinion. I think 245-255's ought to be up front.

Love the long beds, yours have wood in it or is it metal?
