THe BX2 code alone does not indicate the infill. Do you have a build sheet for the truck? Since the truck has been reworked and had the seat recovered it seems unlikely.

In your molding poll response, you indicated Black, did you have a molding in hand to base this on?

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...99#post7673799

Your truck, as built, had both the upper and lower bodyside moldings. Being a Highlander trim upgrade truck it most likely had Black infill lower moldings (uppers are all the same). Also it was painted a Conventional Two-Tone in Medium Blue(510) with a White(521) roof only.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

I don't think it has a build sheet; haven't looked for it. I do not have any moldings for the truck. I have not started working on it as of yet. I was looking at some pictures of other trucks and was wondering if it had the black or wood grain molding before I started ordering the moldings for the truck. I was thinking it came with the black, but was not sure. I was hoping to start working on it after the first of the year. I have to finish another project I am working on first.
Thanks for the response

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Some just say "Custom Trim" but do have the correct RPO. What does your SPID say regarding trim (incl code)?

Thanks for the SPID picture. Clarity helps so much. Mostly what I expected, but the Custom Camper emblems and roof lights really add to it nicely.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

No "Custom/20" & "Deluxe" fender emblems would be correct for your truck as well as the "8 350"s.
Sorry about that, shouldn't have written "Custom Camper" since your truck clearly was not optioned with them (Z81). They were emblems offered on trucks that meet specific minimum equipment requirements, but actually added nothing other than the emblems, on the doors for 72.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

News Flash - Southwest Classics was sporting Highlander seat covers for sale WITH the correct scrolling at the Fort Worth Goodguys show. Although the price is about what I spent having a correct scrolled one made, and although the tag says "special order", this is the first time I've ever seen highlander plaid covers over the counter or a case where you could just pick up the phone and say "gimme a 72 blue plaid seat cover with scrolls" and they could make it happen. Interesting, and a good sign. For reference, contact is Tony Farmer 682-323-4812 www.swclassics.net

As of what I can find, all they make is blue plaid. Is this true?

Nice, and a shorty too - not very common. At $10k with lots of bids and reserve not met, it aint gonna be cheap. Seller does not seem to know or, at the very least, isn't mentioning, it's a highlander. Folks that do usually play it up a bit (I would). That's a nice one.

I sure like the look of the grey plaid gain the Ochre/White exterior and think that is the best plaid color for ochre. It show DG$ mirrors on the spid isn't that the 7 1/2 by 10 chrome ones. If so they must have been removed and holes patched when truck was repainted.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Nice original Highlander with YG7 Package on EBay. Too bad a dealer is selling it because it could probably have been bought pretty reasonable from the farmer that sold it to the dealer.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Tim...here's a question that may have been asked before:
If you ordered a Highlander optioned truck...and you added 'bucket seats' to the order, what did you get for an interior?
Thanks
Coley

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

You could not order Highlander buckets in a pickup.

The root issue is Chevrolet did not offer the A50 bucket seat option with the Z62 Custom Deluxe option in pickups. Since Highlander Plaid was an upgrade option to and required Z62 Custom Deluxe it should be easy to see the conflict.

If you wanted A50 buckets then you ordered a base truck or upgraded to Cheyenne or Cheyenne Super trim. They all used the same all vinyl seat covers. But they could not be upgraded to Highlander Plaid by the book.

However Blazers with the Z84 CST trim were offered the Highlander Plaid trim upgrade option.

Since bucket seat truck cabs were specific, it wasn't a simple matter of a dealer swapping benches for buckets to make a customer happy.

About the closest you could have come in a pickup would be to have ordered Z84 Cheyenne Super trim and A50 Bucket seats. Then replaced the seats/covers with Blazer spec parts.
