Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
The wrecker going to be cool. I always liked the stack headlights on the square body.

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thanks Dale!
when it comes to squares, always been a bigger fan of the '80's trucks. to me they just scream "TRUCK" with a capital T! (maybe cuz i also own a '85...) well that dam groundhawg nailed it in my 'hood...we JUST had our grass make a re-appearence after a couple mos, then this carp blew in yesterday, and it's still here today, will be here tomorrow, and not supposed to leave until mon or tues.... have'nt got much done on the wrecker last week, 71 hrs at work, but i foresee a change here pretty quick with the weather... nobody would prob have never seen this, but i thought i would show it anyways. my caster is getting pretty good at making junk, nice little detail on the manifolds...will be getting more, much easier to put in the trucks than headers... nothing fancy, big old torque tow truck motor..(not the air cleaner i will be using..) |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
like i said, not a hecka a lot done last week...
typical cheap-ass revell door panels, not a thing on them...been getting lazy, instead of scratching something, i been robbing a '70 impala of pieces of it's door panels...this is what i got so far... and the kit wheel is not what i would call normal tow truck fare, so back to the impala, with a couple mods... |

Keep up the good work! My dad actually owned a 79 GMC Tow truck with the same equipment the revell kit comes with. If i had a pic i would post it.

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thanks Dale & Dieselburb!
yeah, i do Dale, was'nt yours a '80 something too? cant belive the frikkin' weather we been having- where's all this global warming.... opened my garage door the other day to this.... then an ice storm rolled thru last night.....blah! not sure on the bumper. the big push bumper in the kit looks good....on a '70's, not so much on an '80's thinking widening and adding some checkerplate and tubing and a 16.5 winch to this old warn enforcer bumper |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
i thought i would have more time to play with this, but been shovelin' snow, and more snow....
engine and tranny crossmembers located and in and got most of the front susp in and yeah, that is a '65 stepper under some of them parts. surprisingly won it on fleabay for $28 bucks to my door, which for us is a pretty decent price with our buck in the toilet. hoping to collect enuff parts to do (drum roll please...) a 1 ton crew cab dually 4x4 before i finish the wrecker and the '41 |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
It's looking great. I really like the winch bumper. I never liked the grill guard on the push bumpers. I cut it off on mine and it looked cleaner. We were having some awful weather here too. We went from drought to drowning. Keep up the good work.

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
jeez, from one extreme to the other , Dale!
was watching some Oroville dam footage- pretty impressive... we had some localized flooding when the temp jumped up above freezing and started a major meltdown on the snow here...been a weird winter everywhere.....it can end anytime now.... sounds like you will be needing Alpine recovery to come haul your derby cars Deer hunter.. got some more done on the wrecker, also scored another piece for my cc dually '66. swapped 2 fords for another '64 chev fleetside- just need one more fleet box, or another truck and i'm off and runnin' some paint laid down before and after jerry can. really likin' this chrome pen, latches look cool on the toolbox i think got some ink for my printer for the gauges bought this at wally-mart for a $1.79, real stainless wire. going to spool the front winch with it as well... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
some more on the wrecker
rims, tires, t-case and motor done. scratched rad support with a chevelle rad & shroud replaced the hawse with a roller fairlead on the front bumper, added a couple d-rings and some checkerplate shocks are'nt finished yet, but the grille is. going to wrap the warn in some of that stainless wire. pretty tite for space so the exhaust just got some turn-downs. and yeah, it dont have a diesel, but i think they look cool anyways... remember these Dale? luckily the wife found them in an old email (i reduce to size i need, then email it to myself and then print it) the hot wheel i'm going to rob of it's wheels for a set of dolly's for the wrecker |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
I'm ready for winter to be done. I'm tired of cutting up the fallen trees at my house. Oroville was a scary situation. The next storm just started during the night and it's pouring right now. The truck is looking great. Yep, I remember those. Lol

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
then the ice came...ya, same here, trees down all over the place. there's 3 couple hundred yr old oak trees at the end of our street, 2 came down, took the wires, pole and blew the transformer. hydro said 146 transformers blew that day.
wife's clothes line biting it nine o'clock in the morn.......................................................and 20 mins later yanked the pole right off the shed, was screwed to it... ice brought the neighbors wires down- no power for a day and a half... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
learned a lesson last week....dont dick around with models if your sick..
tried doing some work on it with a cold, ended up getting glue on the wrecker body paint, broke the lightbar, and worst of all, got instant glue on the one piece window assembly, effectivley screwing up all the winda's... but i managed to hide the paint screw-ups, and cut all new windows out of 015 clear- not frikkin' easy... |

thanks Dale!
lookin' forward to doing the crew dually, still need one more box, scoping a few on fleabay...in the meantime i got the '41 my son got me for christmas. will be a fairly quick build, just lifted and a couple other things- nothing too major. thinking along the lines of the Orange Blossom Special truck, orange with black fenders and check this out, gm 9500. conversion kit from AITM. you need a chassis, engine, etc....got an unbuilt Peterbilt chassis, engine, etc...put a tow boom on the back...heck ya |
