Done with that.
Moving on to exhaust, and since I won't need these round canister things on a 72 pickup, off they come.

Nice work! Are you going to paint it? Maybe a high heat black? Everything else is so purdy

Nice work Drew! How are you going to prevent a check engine light since the catalytic converters are gone? O2 simulators?

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
I Googled scrap dealers in Memphis and called around. Also I have run a Craigslist ad for parting out a vehicle and they called me. They offered a lower price of course when they called me.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
I have a question for anyone who has good info. How much louder will the truck be without the cats? I can listen to sound clips from Magnaflow, etc., but they all are cat back systems. I don't want much rumble and certainly don't want any drone in the cab. Any thoughts on a cat-less quiet-ish muffler?

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Well, the extended length of the truck will help and if you have the exhaust exit out the back or behind the rear axle at least that will help a lot with noise. I have heard magnaflow are great for having a mellow sound w/out the cab drone you can get with flowmasters. The way your exhaust comes together will also help mellow out the sound...I'd put the muffler as far back as I could....

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
i think the 5.0 mustangs had the perfect stock exhaust tone. that's what i'm going to try and get for my 67.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Why not use the stock Vortec muffler from 96-up dual in and single out. Fairly efficient and mellow

Off the shelf replacement mufflers should give you some choice of sound level and they will all be relatively the same size so swapping one for another will be a piece of cake. You probably have a stock one or two sitting around that you can build the exhaust system around to get you started.
