Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew

I've seen some builds that use headers that don't drop down below the frame but not sure which builds they are OR the year specific.
I did find a few links that discuss headers. Some even have good pics too.
What are the Best Fitting Headers for a 67-72 Chev!

A quote I copied from jd7,"The Sanderson C11 header is the cleanest, but the Headman 69640 will work as well just not as pretty"
Someone else mentioned. Hedman 69260's are designed specifically for the '55-'66 trucks, and will not interfere with your clutch linkage as most 'cheap' headers will. (Not sure if these fit 67-72)

Headers for Pacesetter TBSS Long Tube Header Install on my 6.0L in my 69' C10

I hope some of these links help in your search for the right headers.
Good luck.

Its good...its been all tucked away under the cover for awhile. Dam job keeps me to busy sometimes. Thank you, it was a nice surprise, I could care less about trophy's....i just want to hang out and have some cold ones with buddy's. I am really going to try to hit the Spokane goodguys next year, Puyallup is fun, but I've never been to that one. I may take a swing at the Portland roadster show this March if you over this way, Bigblock68 will have a booth (chevy metal truck parts) and I might put the turd in it. At least having a show then breaks up the long winter.

Got more gas and finished up the chassis shrink. I could have just as easily drilled and bolted the body mounts back on but why? I ain't never taking them back off so I just welded them home. I plug welded the old holes and it's a wrap. Well, kinda.... I'm amazed at how flexy the frame really is. I pick it with the floor jack in the front-center and the thing is like a wet noodle! I think I'm going to box it in and throw some diagonals in front, center and rear. I still have to make portals in the center member for exhaust and I THINK I've got the motor where I want it and need to finish landing the perches. I'll then strip and re-paint the whole deal with better stuff. Oh, clutch linkage... Ugh!
I may have to bring a long bed to Spokane to get shortened, nice work Brutha!!

The sad aftermath of truck metalwork addiction- hooking for loose change. Better git on the track and make this happen!

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew

It's been a long time but I did stuff yesterday and intend to keep rolling. I did my layout so that I could remove some bad sections in my bed sides. The PO had drilled clean through the inner and outer skins at all four corners to bolt on some camper tie downs or something. I had already done what I could but there was a fair bit of filler. Feels good to just cut it out! The layout and cutting up front went smooth but it's gonna take a little fiddlin to get back together just right. I've got it tacked in a few places and a bunch of clamps holding it together. I've looked around a bunch for the proper hole spacing at the bed floor but haven't found it just yet. If anyone has a SWB and could measure the spacing for me that'd be awesome!!

This is the spacing I need to sort out. Both in front and behind the wheel tubs.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew

Not sure about the spacing you're after. I've got the stock long bed for Daphne that'll need cuttin down. If you need some pre-cuttin measurements I can git them for ya.

Not tellin ya how to do your cuttin but I'd get as much metal down to bare metal for re-working (welding, hackin, poundin on).
When I did Steiners box I used a copper spoon for backing to help in filling those areas that had a bigger gap than desired. '66 box......not much help there for ya.

Glad to see you choppin on that box. Take your time on welding back together.

Keep on it! Slammin a beer to celebrate ya choppin.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew

Thanks dudes!
This was a little tougher than I had pictured and the OCD started kickin in. There was for sure some stress in them panels and it took a ton of dinkin around to get it all flush and straight. I've got the front section fully tacked back on but I think I'll keep fiddlin with it before I start welding it back. it still pulls in on both sides at the seam. I tried pulling it out and tacking it but it wanted to oil can like that. The way it is now I'd wind up with about 1/8" of filler over the joint and if that's the best I can do I'll be ok with it. The Boy did the layout on the back section and we got that cut off. We put the back section up for a look-see and it's not going to be any easier than the front. I'm anxious to see how I can blend the body line that curves down behind the wheel opening....
I'm loving it! It's going to look killer!

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew

Awesome work on the bed shortening. I can get those dimension you need for the square holes. It may be tomorrow evening before I get back out to the shop though. We just got blasted by a cold front.

I'm wondering how critical the exact location is for these holes? I will be measuring the center to center of the top of the carriage bolts. So it will be within say a 1/16" at best.

Is your floor wood or steel?

Thanks man! Mine's a wood bed... might be different? Better let me do a little more homework before you go and make me a drawing!

Here's how the layout landed after the sections were removed.

Thanks dudes! The very next weekend I got friggen sick then last weekend was SEAHAWKS FOOTBALL!! and had to go to my folks for chow on Sunday. I plan on getting back at it this week.
Stopped at the store after work and parked next to this POS. Took a double take and thought.... "ain't that the truth!" and snapped a photo. I had a better one but accidentally deleted it off my phone. This one will still get the point across though

Ahh man! Before Holmgren I was all about Walsh, Montana, Rice, Young... even Deion had a stint. Now Harbaugh , Kaepernick and Gore. I'll still take the Niners over most other teams in the league BUT we finally got a team up here in the corner! It's gonna be a good one

You're a lucky dawg driving that bad '67 around in Hawaii! Any action on the bikes? We've got one busted up that needs fixed before spring.

Well the Boy is back behind the wheel but is strugglin with gas money! He's needing some heads as one of his has a screwed up stud and overall it's a bit smokey.

I've been dinkin with them bedsides a little more and have the azz end about half tacked on. Same damn deal back there. Just kinda pulled in at the seam. I'm also struggling with blending that contour on the back half. It lines up pretty darn close but it's gonna need filler. I'll get some updates and photos on here over the weekend.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew

Got a day's worth in yesterday and it's testing my patience! There was some old "bodywork" behind the passenger wheel opening that was real bad. I had previously tried to hammer it flat but still ended up with a ton of filler. I used a piece from one of my sections to cut it out. All I had that was really useable was from in front of the wheels so the distance between the body line and the roll at the bottom was quite a bit different. I flattened the roll out a little then re-formed it over the edge of my table. So I've got both ends tacked on but I'd still like to get stuff a little straighter before I weld it all up. Overall this bed is beat up a bit more than I remembered and it's kicking my butt.
