Thanks Keith and thank you for posted up that pic for me I figured you would like them since it was your truck I kept looking at when making a decision. We need to see more pics of Lucy or maybe a build thread. Posted via Mobile Device

I liked the Vintecs but I like the Intros too. Either would have looked great.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
I need your guys opinions on something. Right now my front suspension consists of the stock front crossmember with slam ss7's and Porterbuilt forward arms. I'm thinking about changing it over to the Porterbuilt Touring Dropmember. The only thing holding me back is that i would have to sell my forward arms cause they only work with the stock crossmember. I guess this wouldn't be such a big deal as they should sell easily.
I already have the Mild Rear Dropmember on order and would like to match the front with the rear. I also like the fact that I can have a low ride height with much better ground clearance and also upgrade to rack and pinion steering. I like the touring dropmember better then the mild cause i'm thinking it will give me a little rake but without having to notch the frame or move the engine up like the Extreme version. Dave told me that the Mild Front would sit level with the mild rear when aired out and like I said I like a little rake. I guessing now is the time to do it since my truck is still in pieces. I would hate to have to do it after everything is painted and bolted together. Maybe a little work now will save me alot of work down the line. What do you guys think.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
I have the extreme front and mild rear because I wanted a hot rod rake when air out. The frame under the front cab mounts sits on the ground and rakes back. The portion of the frame just under the rear cab mount and in front of the first bed mount is about 3" off the ground.
After talking with Nate he told me that the weight of the bed would make it sink another 1/2" to and 1". Not sure if that gives you an idea or puts you in the area that you want to be. |

I did the mild front and rear. I'm running a 255/45/20 front and 295/45/20 rear. This is how it sits

I love my mild dropmember and can't wait to see it completed. I say bite the bullet and do it now otherwise you will regret it and end up getting one regardless.
You can do it!!! -Adam

Hey, we're here to help.
It would be worth your time to call Justin (owner) at Scott's Hot Rods while you're at it. 805 485-0382. You just committed to taking your build to a lower level.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
I want to thank Nate and Dave at Porterbuilt with all their help this past week. Nate and I exchanged a ton of emails back and forth as I was trying to decide what was the best direction to go with my front suspension. I wanted the front to lay out but was worried how much clearance I would have due to the Big Block/TH400 combo I have.
With Nate's guidance I finally decided to go with the Touring Front Dropmember with 1" narrowed tubular arms to help clear the backspacing on my front wheels and help clear my BBC as well. This will lay out the front on a 28" tire with my 2.5" drop spindles. I also decided to switch my order for the mild rear dropmember to the extreme dropmember. I figured might as well lay the whole truck out no point in going half way I can adjust my ride height to give me the rake I want while driving.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
Also keep a look out on the for sale section. As soon as I can get my forward arms, shock relocators and shocks removed i'll be listing them for sale.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB
I'm glad I took this step as well, I don't why it was so hard for me to finally come to this decision. Maybe because now I have to redo my frame, but oh well in the end it will be what I wanted. Should have everything in a couple weeks. Still don't have the time to work on my truck but I will have plenty of parts waiting for me when I can
