Re: 75 Dually build

I did a bunch of small jobs cleaning up the parts I have already wrapped. However I did get to install the new marker lights. Shinny!

Thanks man! I have been very lucky in all truth, so far I have only had to redo one part. I got a bunch of dust on the sticky side of the film, and it was tossed in the trash... Oh well live and learn.

Actually my wife is the patient one! Look who she has to put up with!!! Poor girl...

Looks killer, I'm surprised how deep and glossy the vinyl looks. Hope to see it at LST!!

You will see it if I have to drag it there! I'm surprised also just how shinny it is too.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

I've been watching your build, and I have full faith that you will get it done and be there ready to burn rubber! Me on the other hand, I was running the items list and the amount of days left last night and it is going to be really close. But luckily for me and you this is not our first rodeo!

Re: 75 Dually build

So in typical West Texas fashion the weather today was 90 degrees, and tomorrow we are expecting a winter storm!

So I busted a hump today getting the truck in primer. I will have to wet sand the roof, and a couple of small spots, but it is now really coming along. I also got the rear panel covered today. In that pic you can see some wrinkles at the very top, don't worry about those because they will be under the stainless rear cab wrap around trim. You can also see in that shot where I used the knifeless tape on the outer edge. Man that stuff is amazing! I still have a couple of air bubbles to chase down, but it is maybe 2 to 3 of them. Let me tell you this panel was no fun at all. I still have to finish the bottom, but that is for tomorrow!

Stay tuned!

Can you just take care of tje air bubbles you are chasing with a pin? That's how we used to do it with vinyl graphics.

Yes you can, but I have been using the tip of the razor knife which seems to work really well. You cannot see the hole because that knife is super fine.

Re: 75 Dually build

Y'all know how much I like to sand, if you don't let me tell you... So tonight I got half of the roof wet sanded (the hard part, the very middle!), and I got the complete hood done too. I will get the rest of the truck wet sanded early this week and then I will start the wrapping process. I wanted the truck as mirror smooth as possible in order to give the best possible finish for the wrap.

Stay tuned!

Re: 75 Dually build

LST Crunch! The pain is real!!

So tonight I got the whole passenger side and most of the roof wet sanded. Tomorrow is the drivers side.

No slacking at this point. Every hour counts!

Stay tuned

Re: 75 Dually build

Very cool truck and interesting build. While not my taste I respect the build quality. I like the vinyl wrap idea, although I don't imagine it is a first timer type job. Hopefully soon I will have a dually build as well, but it will not be lowered it just isn't my style. I have a question though can this truck still haul like a stock one other than the bed? You never know I could be swayed. I'm looking forward to the finished outcome. I love the color combo.

First of all thanks for your comments above. Secondly this is a first timers try at wrapping! LOL!!

About the towing ability. If you boil down all the negativity about lowered trucks we are basically using a stock (for the most part) type of suspension. Airbags are not a limiting factor, in fact that is what most Semi trucks use everyday. Other than the bed you mentioned above the pulling ability of my truck is about the same as a stock truck. Mine has one advantage in that it has Accuride air suspension controller, which when an increased load is placed on the truck and the suspension squats down this system reacts instantly by increasing or decreasing the air pressure and keeping the truck at the preferred ride height. Bagged trucks tow all the time, and actually can ride, if setup correctly, better than a stock truck.

I hope that helps. Build a slammed dually!

Mine definitely rides better vs how it was stock & I still have full 1-ton capabilities.... Anxious like everyone to see how the wrap turns out.

Very cool! Thanks for answering those questions. I just may build one some day. After I get a 4x4 though. That's my true want.

Re: 75 Dually build

Boss don't make me sand no more!

The drivers side is done! One little spot on the lower part of the front fender. I laid down some filler, and I will wet sand it out tomorrow. You know you go over these panels hundreds of time, and you will still miss something! ARG! Oh well... Such is life...

Tomorrow the wrapping begins! Most likely I am going to start with the roof and work my way down.

Stay tuned!
