Did we live there the same time? I think i remember a orange truck that was usually under a car cover. You lived next to the lady with 90 kids then.

I dont know about a box but i may put a cover over it so the rain does not drip on to it. What box do you have in mind?

I did not know one was avalible. It says it is water proof when it is pluged in to the harness. I have looked on line but i did not find anything that would look good.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

Would have liked to do it this weekend but i work an sat. And moms day sunday. The only thing that is going to take some time is the return line. I plan to use the factory return that my pump had but am not sure if or how to get the new hose to seal good on old hose. The return is 5/16 i think. The efi is 3/8 or -6 but 3/8 is the i.d. I am not sure if i can get the -6 to clam down on the 5/16 or not. The kit has hose clamps on the return side so it is not that much psi. That is the only thing that could hold me up so i want to have full weekend to do it just in case. Next week seems to be the week. I may install my regulator This weekend. I am taking baby steps sorry.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

Do yall think a 5/16 return line will work. The kit has a -6 supply and that is 3/8 i.d. My origanl engine had one of them 3 hose pumps and the 3rd hose is a return hose i am told and i want to use it cause it is steel and would not have to drop tank or add anything. If it works it would be great.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

I just ordered a 3/8 hose barb fitting for my return line. I plan to shove a 5/16 hose over it and connect to my factory return line. Then i just need a 5/16 fuel line and will be all set. I hope..... So far it is planed for next weekend.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

That should work fine. As a check you can put a fuel pressure gauge inline on the return near your throttle body. It should read nearly zero. As stated before you are going to want a baffled tank, or don't go below 1/4... LMC sells them for cheap, or you can get a junkyard 87-91 burb tank. I couldn't find one for my pickup, but I only had 1 year that would work. Can't wait to see the install.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

Just for fun, here is some info i found on it,

Quote:
we tuned the carb as well as we could, then took the car on a 100-mile mileage loop. The carb delivered 13.2 mpg. With EZ-EFI, the exact same mileage loop brought home 18.5 mpg.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

Dang accelerator cable snapped today when i was warming truck up. Got in and pushed pedal to reset fast idle and after a min i tried to tap the pedal and heard crunch noise and pedal went smooth to the floor and staded there. Good thing wife has a car or i would have to walk 12 miles home and 12 back to work. Any way got new one and will have to install it tomorrow at work.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

I always think i should carry one with me. One time my cousin and i were driving in his suburban and his cable snapped about 3 blocks from home. We just popped the hood, i crawled up in there and ran the throttle while he drove! But, 3 blocks is a way lot different then 12 miles! That would not be ok.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

If i had to i was going to use a shoe string. Would have ben iffy at best. If i would have looked at everything i would have just fixed me up a cable out of wire and limped it home. Now it is sitting at work and i have to go pick it up after work and that means i have to drive to work twice. Horible waste of gas.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

Well i installed the biggest pos throttle cable ever made at lunch today. For some reason it would not clip into my firewall. Then it would not clip into my throttle pedal then it held the carb open so it idles at 1100. So modifyed the clip for fire wall then modifyed the the firewall pas threw so it would let carb shut all the way. So i should have used the shoe lace and saved 14 bucks.

Also got my fitting in mail to finish the efi. I will be installing it this week end. Cant wait. I hope it is all it is cut out to be.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

Well i have just read the 33 page manual again for my efi and still dont fully understand how it works. Guess that is why they dont let you play with the fuel maps and that stuff. I cant wait to install in sat. I figure is should not take that long. All i have to do is install fuel pump in other ones location and install t/b and regulator and plumb my return line in and set the fuel psi. Then 9000 connections and turn key. Cant wait! Almost as exciting as the day installed the hole motor. Seen my next prodjects motor at the local cruse night. A ZR1 corvette motor. Man that was nice. You can actually change the spark plugs rather easy on the monster. I was surpprised. The rear tires on that thing make my 11.4 inch wide tires look like skinnys.
