Re: My 56 build
Took my first ride of the season. The 4 link arms work great. No more movement in the rear when you brake. Just put 60 miles on it. The trip consisted of 15 roundabouts. Those were the worse before. It feels really good!

Re: My 56 build
reflection in the paint shows how straight the panels are. good job on that, no wavy reflections means extra hours spent block sanding to get it right. nice work

Re: My 56 build
The truck is officially out away for winter. Spent the summer cruising in the 56’. Drove it whenever possible. I swear I went to more car shows in the rain than the sun. No matter, it won’t melt
still working on a few bugs. Struggled to get full throttle since I finished it. Would just cut out. After lots of thinking and ruling out computer problems I realized it was mechanical. Changed injectors… not it. Finally changed the high pressure cam driven pump. I found sand in the line going to the pump. When I was building the truck over the years a dirt dobber bug must of filled the fuel line going to the pump. That’s the only explanation I can come up with. Talk an out working out bugs Boy it runs good now! I find all kinds of “slippery stops” on dry pavement Last bug I have is to get the cruise control working. Bought a 2wd square body as my summer daily. Love that truck! Now looking at my next project. It’s a 36’ Chevy truck. Can’t get the picture to rotate correctly, but you’ll get the idea. Oh ya. I bought an industrial sewing machine too. Couldn’t find anyone to redo my seats up here in the north country… so I’m going to give it a stab. It’s going to be my winter project. I’ll keep you updated

Re: My 56 build
thats a good find, when you figure out whats wrong with something and it works like it should. always a good feeling.
your new project looks like a gooder. it is pretty complete as to what you will need to complete your plan and dream for it? it's gonna seem like a skinny thing once you put some seats in there, lol. my wife boughty a sailrite portable machine a couple years ago. we did the interior on our boat. works great. its portable, to take with on your sail boat. it would sew through almost anything i think. there is quite a few "how to" videos on their website, and they sell a lot of supplies as well. maybe worth a look for you |

Re: My 56 build
It still looks great and glad you used it often.
Keep us posted on your projects, as I always enjoy seeing your work. A friend of mine dabbled with a sewing machine and said the most difficult sewing was a straight line. Thanks for sharing, and I like the square bodys too (maybe because they were everywhere when I grew up

Re: My 56 build
Slowly figuring out the sewing machine. I had all the material for the visors, so I started there. They came out ok. I may redo them if I have enough material after finishing the seats. The diamond pattern pieces are going to be the center sections of the seats with all the boarder darker like the visors. I’m working on the square body bench before I do any more on the 56’. Figure that’ll be good practice. Definitely more comfortable sewing after doing all the inserts.

Re: My 56 build
that turned out amazing ... you had to have had a sewing background before just buying an industrial machine and going at it though ... right?
