Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Chased wires for a couple of days still trying to get externaly regulated alternator to charge. Finally gave up and the lady at the parts store was nice enough to exchange the regulator and alternator for an internally regulated one! Fingers crossed...she purrs like a kitten...when she starts. Now has all new grounds, cables, wires, plugs, ignition switch, and hei.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Climbed in and out of the engine compartment about 6-7 times today chasing a pulley alignment problem, and rerouted a vacuum line. tomorrow will be new plugs, then reassembly with a new Harmonic balancer and different water pump pulley.

A very typical " fat fingers " mistake ~ look at your key board to see why .
After I had owned one of my trucks for between 1 and 1 1/2 years, I was going through my file on that truck to ensure I had the title, latest insurance documents, etc. Started comparing the insurance card to the title and I figured out the title was literally missing a character. I'm a detail freak, so I still had the original slip when the truck was temp registered in Colorado. Somehow, when the paperwork went to DMV to change over from the Arkansas title to a Colorado title, the Colorado DMV left out a number from the VIN.

Went to the DMV, paperwork in hand, showed them the documentation I had and explained the issue. They said they would pull it up at the Denver office to verify my claim. Received a phone call within a day or so, they said I was right, a new title would be issued, and there would be no charge because it was their error!

Sometimes things actually do work out!!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I just got my '72 home 2 weeks ago, a truck I've been after for several years. P/O preferred the 69/70 grille, so I spent yesterday with the rattle cans getting it back to '72 town. Still lots to do..

Derotoreut, would you mind showing me how you built your heater? I've been thinking of moving the heater core inside the cab with waterflow controls but exactly how to do it and maintain some semblance of a glove box has been evading me.

I used the Vintage Air Gen IV system for my truck. It's pretty straight forward, and used by many people on this forum. If you search the forum you should be able to find a lot of info. Here is the link to Vintage Air for our trucks.

Looking sharp!

Spent my day replacing an alternator and starter. Unfortunately, on my 2002 Tahoe not on my 67 C20. That was $300 that I was wanting to spend on my 67 for a new clutch and other stuff.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Several things over the last dew days. Took off my tailgate, cut out all the rust out. Will repair it with new sheet metal. The maroon paint was almost white with age, so as an expieriment I wet sanded the paint with 600 grit, then buffed it out. Looked so good that today I did my hood and roof, a fender and a door. Buffed out the hood, it turned out amazing. Can't wait to drive it again looking over paint that shines. Will buff out fender, door, and roof tomorrow.
I also picked up my engine block from the machine shop for the truck yesterday. I think the current engine resents it because it runs rough every time that block was in the bed!

Threw tools and materials in it and worked out of it. A special treat for me on a working weekend.

I installed a "toothed" grille from a 59 Chrysler Imperial, cut up the stainless to accommodate the new opening, and relocated the stock turn signals.
