Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Nice looking truck 67slider!
Heres the pics of my progress so far on the front suspension upgrade. This has taken me considerably longer than anticipated.... I got the driver front upper stripped, primered and painted today. I got the lower out on the driver side as well. I got it dissasembled and half way stripped. I should have it primered and painted tomorrow in hopes of finishing up the driver side. Here are some progress pics so far. My high tech painting booth! Pics of the old vs the new. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Mounted alternator on passenger side so I can get a power steering pump in there. Search goes on for that and a 4bbl. Just keep throwing money at it

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
in the process of installing my rear flip kit. Got it tore apart and then everything put back into place. Decided to call it a night and take a fresh look at it in the morning to make sure we are installing the kit correctly before tightening everything down. Then moving to the front to install drop spindles and lowering springs.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Finished up the rear flip. Lowered the rear 6.5", and will probably be a little more once I install the c-notch.
Got the front end torn down and the new ball joints installed (that was fun ) Was hoping to get away with just installing new drop spindles and cutting a link out of the springs, but once the old springs came out it was obvious that the PO had heated the springs. So picking up some 3" dropped springs tomorrow.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Over the last few weeks I have spent a little time with the wifey tearing down my '70. We removed all the interior... Shag carpet and all. Took out the finder wells, polished the grill, put four tires on it that hold air and a few other things. The rust is as expected for these trucks. However the PO hacked up the tunnel pretty bad putting a floor shifter in it. In the late '70's or early '80 he did a lot of really crappy body work on it. The truck was apparently road hard and put up wet... Also found that it had a 5th wheel mount in the bed after cleaning out all the leaves. The truck sat under a grove of trees since 1986 until this July.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Found out my quadajet is unusable. I managed to get the secondary needle bracket bent back to where it should be, but found one main needle is bent, and the other is broken. Good news is I have a good carb lined up, just need to collect it.
Found a set of headers for cheap, slightly used, going to clean them up and paint them. I figure headers, carb, and an intake will be enough until I can build the engine I want. Also managed to get under the rear end and found a tag bolted to the diff cover. It says my Dana 60 has 4.10:1 gears. :-)

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Replaced the cracked and broken steering wheel. New wheel came from a Jeep Wrangler Laredo in the pick and pull yard. Had the same mounting pattern so an easy swap. I replaced the Jeep emblem with a carbon fiber button I made.

I bought a GM door handle from a guy on here. Didn't really need it but I told him I'd buy it and I like to do what I say I will.
It's gotta be better than that repro on there now! LOL |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Tried to buy a NOS passenger handle but the last email from the seller was a bit confusing. I sent an clarification email but still awaiting the answer. Hopefully I can still get the handle.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Pulled the battery out of it and put it on the charger. Its starting to freeze here and I didn't my truck running yet so I figured I better pull it than lose a brand new battery.
