Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I have a 68 truck and just got done taking out my front suspension and putting in a 74 cross member and front suspension for the easy disc brake conversion. Now needing help on what engine frame brackets to use.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Sprung a power steering leak.....
It was only a matter of time with the hose rubbing on the inner like it has been. I guess its time to get two new hoses made to the correct lengths... NAPA? Scott

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I just may have found a true rust free cab for my '69 .
Sadly they want BIG bucks for it and I have to pay someone to remove it . I'll go take the glass out to - morrow and see if it's really and truly rust free .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
It was yesterday....and it had nothing to do with RAT. Not, really.
I had the chance to behold the best '72 Blazer I've ever seen in my life. Bar *none*. Forum Member. Enthusiast. All around *incredible* truck builder. And one of the best guys you'd ever want to meet. Thanks, Tom Vogel.

Tom is humble. So, I'm not sure he's posted many pics. Also, there's a beautiful story that goes with this baby. Let me put it this way, Mud. It'd be worth the trip down from your cold box to see it, no matter what the plane fare. When Tom does choose to show it off, you'll see. For now, all I can give you is a bad blow-up of what's on his avatar:

Installed sound deadner on back cab wall and 2 new Phenix gold 2 way speakers in the dash and had the local music guy tune my amp's for me. Brooks & Dunn never sounded better!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I received the two door handles I bought off the forum. THANKS GUYS!
Both are very nice and exactly as advertized. I'll have to get some rubber weatherstripping for those and one handle lacks the bolts but I might can use my old ones. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Ordered a new gas tank, sending unit, cap, and adapter plate for my new edelbrock carb
Peeked inside my old tank which I hadn't opened since purchase of the truck( wasnt running when purchased), rusted out real bad. Dropped off the 2 chamber flowmasters , now they can install the dual 2.5" exhaust once the tank is in |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
So heres the end result after ten hours of trying different compounds, rouges, polishes, and everything under the kitchen sink. Was about to give up when i found out about "blue magic", got more done in an hour with that than everything else combined. Could have saved my elbow grease for something else...lol. hindsight is always 20/20! Gotta give my good friend Aaron a shout out becauase he was with me the whole time. The proof is in finish.

Re : Polishing Alloys
When I was attached to L.A.P.D.'s Air Support , I discovered " Met All Metal Polish " ~ a pink creme in a can , it's mildly abrasive and wonderful on corroded old alloys , best of all : it works better the less you use .
Interstingly it is also great to bring back old Perspex canopies that are dead & yellow and obviously trash , pink taillight lenses etc. Recently the druggies across the street sideswiped my old Mercedes leaving thick black crud ground into the original paint , rubbing compound etc. didn't touch it but Met All cleaned it right off and didn't damage my original paint . Consider it the next time you're trying to salvage some nice alloy rockerboxes like those , or want to have a shiny alternator on your truck .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
It wasn't today - it was a couple of days ago, but this has been my first chance to post a picture...I entered Maxine in an Army fundraising car show - won the Commanding General's trophy and a trophy for the highest mileage (which doesn't make much sense for a vehicle with 115,000 miles - I figured someone would show up in a rusty and smoking '60's VW bug with 300K plus miles - heck, my other two late model vehicles have more miles on them than that!)
The competition wasn't too fierce, but hey, a win is a win!! |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Nothing directly done to the truck but did beef up the garage's structural security. My neighbor's kitchen door got kicked in 3 weeks ago and some stuff was taken (including a loaded Beretta!) so I've been dumping some brain power into making my junk safer.
This is a pic of EZ Armor going into my house's back door frame but it isn't much different for the garage. I did manage to break a drill bit off getting over zealous with how deep I was drilling my pilot holes but the screw I wanted to use still fit fine. |
