Re: DBW pedal mounting bracket

Rob, I'm not sure what pedal I want to use yet for my LS3 swap. I'm considering using the Corvette pedal for my 71 because of the similarities with the stock pedal. I'm also considering Lokar pedals, but big $$$$. Will your mounting bracket work with any of the Lokar DBW pedals? If so, do you know which ones?

Dan - I think the LOKAR pedal mounts very close to the way the Corvette pedal does, but I haven't ever used one. If it were me, I would just go with the corvette pedal. You will save yourself about $500.... Let me know.

OK Rob, you convinced me. I think I'll take your DBW bracket for my 71 LS3 swap. My pedals should match up pretty well with the 05+ Corvette pedal. Can you PM me payment details. I will reply with my contact info and ship address. Thanks.

Re: DBW pedal mounting bracket

Rob,
I received the Gen IV throttle bracket. It's a nice idea, but I was disappointed that the holes didn't line up. Hopefully this is a once only situation.

Here is my 71 throttle pedal compared to the Gen IV pedal.

Size: 105.1 KB

You can see when the original pedal bracket is placed on top of the new one, it doesn't line up. Bottom hole in line… Top ones don't match

The holes would have to be re-drilled or re-worked some how. Top left hole in line… Others don't line up.

Top right hole in line… Others don't line up.

Re: DBW pedal mounting bracket

That's strange Dan. I've sold almost 40 of these and haven't had any problems with the holes not lining up. The dimensions of your pedal are the same as 73-87 pedals. Here's some pictures of my 86. If you don't think it will work for you, please return it and I will refund your money.

Rob - That is strange. My truck is an original 71 swb built in California and spent its life in Arizona. Did the 71 & 72 year trucks have nuts welded on the outside of the firewall, in order to bolt the original throttle bracket assembly to, from inside the cab? Mine is set up like that. This is my first 71, so I am not familiar with it. I have a 69 & 70 to, but their pedal assemblies were different. I'm just wondering because the only thing I could think of is unless someone changed it. It doesn't appear to be the case because when I took it all apart, everything appeared to be original.

I appreciate your consideration in allowing me to return the bracket. I will let you know if I'm able to use it or not. I want to smooth my firewall anyway, so I would be looking for a different way to attach the bracket. Thanks.

That's really crazy Dan. As far as I know, all of the years of trucks, 67-72, had the nutserts welded in that pattern on the outside of the firewall. I've had people with all of those years use this bracket, so I'm at a loss. If your truck was a 72, I would say maybe they ran out of 72 brackets and started using the 73's . Who knows. Just let me know what you want to do, and my apologies for the aggravation.

I don't think you can convert the 01 to a Corvette pedal. Did you see my adapter brackets for the truck/SUV pedal here:

Re: DBW pedal mounting bracket

Rob, I'll take one as long as it fits the 73-87. I've got a Corvette pedal ready to install.

Thanks,

Chris

Chris, unfortunately I haven't had time to mess with the 73-87 pedals yet. Plus, I haven't had a lot interest in those specific ones. I'll let you know if something changes.

Re: DBW pedal mounting bracket

Purchased this from Hartrod. I got it installed with my Vette pedal today. The fittment is perfect. Thanks for putting a good product out there Hartrod. This was one less hassle to deal with during my ongoing swap.
