Yep, guy I bought it from said it was a 396, but the numbers on the block say it's a 454 from 71-79, or something like that. Don't know about the drill surround, I haven't made up my mind yet.

It will be c-notched. Tires are Nitto INVO 245/40 and 295/35

It's sprayed.

Thanks for the comments fellas!
Got it somewhat back on the ground just to see what it will look like. Need to get my springs for the front, install the 2" lowering blocks, and get an adjustable track bar. This thing is going to turn some heads around here.

this is a 5/7 static drop on 20's? looks great, what mods to get the wheels on? I just ordered the 5.5/7 cpp drop myself, this could be too low for the roads in my town, but it looks perfect

Re: Update on my 68...

This pic is with the 2" blocks installed. The pics at night are before the 2" blocks. Also, the front is supposed to be a 5.5" drop, but due to the big block, it turned out to be about a 6.5" drop. It is only 25" from the ground to the top of the fender well on the front, and it's 27" in the rear. When I install the LS1, it should raise the front back up to about 26.5" maybe 27".

Re: Update on my 68...

When I first got my truck I did the same thing that you did to your head. Except it was my leg and I was wearing a pair of sweatpants....needless to say it took awhile to get the wire wheel untangled from from leg. What does not kill you will make you stronger I guess. [/B]Did you have a set budget on this truck or you like me and you want it done now. I finally slowed down and will do more in the future. It gets real expensive fast!!

Re: Update on my 68...

I want it done now, but on a budget! If I had the cash it would be a full frame off build with a lot of custom touches, but since I don't, it will have subtle changes that can be afforded on a budget. I like to think of myself as "Ballin' on a Budget!".

Re: Update on my 68...

Well, it's getting closer!

Purchased:
Aeromotive A1000
Aeromotive FPR
RPM 3 Cam
PRC Dual springs
CPP Tubular motor mounts
CPP LS mount adaptors
Alum. Rad w/ dual electric fans
Aluminum fuel cell
C-notch
CPP Adj. Track Bar
Hooker SuperComp 1 7/8" LT's
Traded 5.7 short block for 6.0 short block
Nelson Performance Custom stand alone harness

Basically all I have to do is install everything.
This setup is going to be a monster in the 68! In my 05, the LS1 had a 224/224 cam and ported 241's with a 3200 nitrous converter that would only flash to about 2600. The new setup will be a 6.0 with the same ported 241's, a 236/242 cam, and a 3600 converter that will actually flash to 3600, and truck will probably weigh 400-600lbs lighter than my 05. Should be a pretty quick street truck which will hold me off till the turbo kit is built.

Dude, one of the best looking trucks on the forum. Did you have any problems with the wheels fitting on you front rotors?

Re: Update on my 68...

Thanks guys! The wheels are very easy to put on. All I had to do was grind the end of the hub a little bit, and they went right on. I have 1" adapters in the rear.

Re: Update on my 68...

I can get you some good 243 heads off a GTO if you want them. Think he was asking $400 (if he still has them). If I ever replaced the LS2 out of my GTO for anything I'm going to find another truck to stock it in.

Great progress man.

Great progress man.
Kinda partial to my 241's. Mine flow more than most shop's ported/polished 243's. I'd like to get a set of 243's and take them to my guy to see what he could do with them, but for now I just want to get everything in the truck and drive it!

Re: Update on my 68...

Nope, no updates. Been really busy lately. Started a new job, going through a divorce, etc.!! Truck might be up for sale shortly. Could use the money to pay off some things. No worries though, can always buy another one later and fix it up!

Re: Update on my 68...

Well....truck is back in progress. Worked it out with the wife, almost done with the remodel on the house, a couple of raises and a promotion at work, and a very very lucky man!

Except when it comes to my projects!! My 60,000mi 6.0 that I traded my "true" 60,000mi 5.7 short block for, looked more like 360,000 when we took it apart to clean it up. Ordered all new gaskets, rings, and bearings for it. Should start putting it together the end of this week. I haven't touched the truck in 3 months, and I AM READY!!! Ordering some parts for it after I wake up from my nap today...it's 2:20am here. Plan is to have it running before the end of August. Don't forsee it to be a problem pending things go smooth with stuff that is out of my hands (engine builder, parts arrivals, driveshaft shop, etc.)
