Thanks fellas, I am happy I kept those wheels. 23"s are very uncommon and they fit the look I want for this build. Dino-- you win the award for most Rivet Kills |

Well another happy friday people, excuse the Prius (it's my girlfirends) she helps even out my carbon footprint.
Looks like I am going with the Entropy radiator, its expensive ($800 with wiring harness, correct ls fittings, steam port). If any of you have gone a cheaper and still effective route for LS's please give me some feedback. Well I got about 10 pounds worth of reading material to get caught up on so I can drop this baby in.. |

Re: My 66 C-10 LWB full PB "Blackout"
your truck is coming along real nice. wish the porter built set up was in my sons budget.I built a 69 camaro a few years back with an ls motor and I want to say I got the tank from a company called rock valley. very nice tank.it came as a stainless tank with a walbro internal pump.for me the easiest way to set up the lines was to run a corvette filter regulator close to the tank.that way you only need 1 line to the motor.with the pump in the tank its really quiet to.not cheap though think it was like a grand.or as a nother option I had a 55 2nd series with a lt1 that I had a local guy build me a tank for. ended up just modifying the stock pump to adapt to my tank.worked pretty good and ALOT more economical.that tank was made form aluminum.just make sure you have it built with internal baffles.are you going to modify your own harness?oh yea you will definitely like the ls set up good fuel economy and power.

Mark- I hear ya, I have been saving the pennies for 3 years to build my 69 caddy, then one day i went out bought this truck and the poor caddy went behind the gates and i fell in love with this truck and the idea of being able to do it all myself to save more $$.. From what I have read looks like i will be going the route of the corvette filter as well. I am planning on going with a Tank from Boyd's but i am still looking at other options. I bought my motor from Spaulding Automotive. It was the best route for me do to time. They crack the harness delete the vats and security feats, they do the complete wiring harness for you, label everything and send you the DBW pedal assembly pretty much everything ready to go. I just have to connect the simple wires like Fuel pump, fans, ignition, ect.. Thanks |

Re: My 66 C-10 LWB full PB "Blackout"
I picked up an aluminum rad, for a mid 60's impla/ belair. It was only a Couple hundred from a vendor at the portland swap meet. And It's got the spouts in the right places for the ls. I havent dealt with the steam line yet though.

Re: My 66 C-10 LWB full PB "Blackout"
What about using a replacement radiator for a 01-current 1500/2500 truck? I know the unit I got w/the 6.0/4l80e was out of an 02 model 1500HD & was a 2-row alum unit w/plastic tanks. They should have all the correct/required fittings & since they were intended for an LS application, should be more than adequate. The trade off is the fab work required to make it fit vs. being a spec custom part that drops right in place. Add some 98-02 f-body e-fans & you're good to go....
Another option on the gas tank would be these guys.... http://www.rickstanks.com/tanks.php

I still havent verified this yet but from what i have seen my LY5 is different from LQ9's and other Gen3 truck motors in that they tapped a steam port line into the factory water pump. Mine already has the steam port and I just need to plump it to the radiator. (I will try and verify this) Quote:
I am going to look into this and see what the costs are and the measurements. From quickly checking online looks like you can get stock replacements for Radiator and duel fans for about $450 total. As you mentioned time would have to be sacrificed to make them fit. Havent come across Rick's yet ill call them tomorrow, Thanks |

I would say check out Howe racing for the radiator that are built to your specs and very reasonable. Nice build by the way.

Quick update.. Rear Disc brakes. 13" Kit from McGaughys very straight forward. ( the axles did have to be turned down for the rotors to fit )

Re: My 66 C-10 LWB full PB "Blackout"
Here is my center console. I installed a similar one from an escalade in my 03 Chevy avalanche. I did get the clock to work. This one has many more features.
Heated and cooled cup holders Heated and cooled seat controls And a bunch of other wires and junk i dont need that supplied the rear entertainment and heat/cold seat ect. I find it funny this center console has more wires then my entire truck!! |

Truck looks great...
AFCO radiator 80126N 31"x19" dual pass aluminum with LSx inlet outlet on pass side $230 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Fan w/ 3 pin 2 speed motor $100 Fuel tank is tough... I'm having my friend build one out of stainless steel for my K5 Blazer. Vaporworx fuel pump ring lets me use a factory fuel pump. It's still going to be around $600+ |

What modification needs to be made in order for this radiator fan assembly? Does it have built in tranny coolers lines? What about the steam port for the ls? For the fuel tank I went with Boyds. Thanks |

The fan I bought is supposed to fit inside the factory 67/72 fan shroud. I havent confirmed yet and I'm not sure what the 60-66 shroud looks like.... The nice part of the fan is its easy to mount to a custom shroud with the tree mounting tabs it has on the motor case.. For the steam vent, I'll either tap the water pump or have a fitting welded into the radiator at a local shop. |
