I've always made my own gasket to seal them up if needed. I used the same window tape for installing glass into you channel (holds glass tight) You can usually get this from any glass shop, and comes in a roll just cut to length and pop your holes in it and your done. I also use this for installing fenders to keep from scratching the paint. My2 cents...

Good to hear the airline monkey is off your back...

FYI the tape is not sticky but when you apply pressure it will hold very well.

So i finally got around to tackling the outer rockers (or at least started). I don't know if i got a bad set or it is pretty typical but i sure had to cut my lmc ones up quite a bit to get them to fit perfectly..... and I really shouldn't use the word perfect i guess.

My apologies as I seem to have misplaced most of the progress pictures from the drivers side but here is bare metal and paint at least, I was able to get most of the fit to line up really nice except the cab corner sits about an 1/8th lower that the rocker. I know I will come back to that but Im pushing to at least get my girl on the road this year.

Side not I wire wheeled the trans tunnel and hit the bottom with some por15 and then taped it off where it will seal and bedlinered the middle

Today I am going to keep working on the fitment of the passenger outer. The front fit beautifully with just a single relief cut, the pinch weld lines up perfectly with the inner... but the back was not nearly as nice to me. I'm guessing its because some owner along the way smashed the back cab corner and simply bondo'd the entire thing. So I'm trying the get shape proper as I go as well.

Nope it's not just your Rockers....I'm Building a F$^d bronco for a customer right now and the rockers had to be modified.
If you checkout the build it shows the drivers side had to be modified alot.
it's all part of it, I have not had 1 single rocker I didn't have to cut in someway

Some days in the shop I feel like I am turning into a good welder and other days I feel like Im just a grinder.... Today was a good day though. Finally got my passenger door fit on to check the fit with the outer rocker and everything appears to be working.

Boom finally done, I officially have a complete cab again (including one banged up cab corner) but at least she's all rust free!!

Thanks guys!! one more question, anyone have good advice for what to use as the seal underneath the tunnel? looks like the original seal was about 2 1/2" thick and the PO just used home insulation hahahha he seems like a smart guy.

changed up and went with 3M double sided rubber tape for a good seal and made the gasket put of barn floor mats that when layered fit perfect.

Next was two coats of POR15 and a couple of gloss black over top..

Next I just wanted to get some paint on all the door inners where the weather stripping sits, as I had stripped off all the rust kinda hastily one day haha, also slapped some paint on the new stereo metal

Finally got all the layers cut away and found a red seat under there... now I have to go back and check the vin number to see what colour the ol girl used to be.. never would have guessed red.

One little note on POR15
Those of you who want to use the product be warned after applying it (if you have to grind off any to weld in an area) You WILL get major perosity (bubbles in your weld) The por gets into the metal and stays there and does not like to be welded on after application!
I found this out the hard way on a Customers build. That being said I started to use the Eastwood rust encapsulator it can be sprayed or brushed and dries in minutes rather than 12hr like POR

Thanks Mark, actually that makes a lot of sense as I noticed even welding on the other side of the rocker to where I had applied the por it really made for an ugly weld job. Good thing I titled this thread "just learning" hahaha

I started to use POR several yrs ago and found this out (bad welds) and also on the POR you might want to put a plastic baggy on the top then the lid.
The reason for this if you get any on the lip of the can and the lid they will "weld" themselves together.

Hey thanks for that. Kinda cool to see and unfortunate as to how bad of shape the seat is in. Definitely not repairable so looks like its time to decide on some upholstery colours.

Another little change of events, found this ol girl randomly on kijiji yesterday. Now I know the 65 is supposed to be my bike hauler but this thing is just screaming at my to build a bike hauler/camper/mechanic rig....

and at $500 i don't know if I can resist....

A little update today... Got some Eastwood Xmat down. Left the back of the cab open.. there are a few more dents and body work to do back there so that will be a next winter kind of job before exterior paint.

finally had the time to get my stereo installed, now trying to remove the gauge cluster for a cleanup and fresh paint. Also working on some under seat speaker boxes trying to hide everything a little bit on the stereo.
