Re: Post your 60-66 craigslist finds

I thought for sure there was an extra zero in this price accidentally. Nope, dude wants $55K. SERIOUSLY delusional.

https://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/cto/6032665823.html

This is a rebuilt now rust free California restomod.
▪ The original 231 motor was replaced long ago and now is powered by a JEGS new 350 crate motor at 260 plus horsepower with a 750 cfm Edlebrock carburetor with high rise Edlebrock manifold.
▪ New paint in turquoise blue original Chevrolet color. Grandpa's farm truck has original look with two tone paint, off white bumpers, top with matching wheels, including the California side mirrors. All wheels, tires, drum brakes, shocks are new with original standard steering. The swing down tail gate with hidden stainless steel spring loaded latches, front fenders, hood panels, door steel replacement panels, front bed panel, and cab quarter panels/corner body assemblies are all new steel. Interior floor panels/support structure where needed were replaced with OEM metal. This is a rust free truck garaged since restored in 2015. When truck was painted it was done in pieces, totally disassembled so that paint wraps panels.
▪ Wood bed is custom which includes 1/2 inch treated plywood underlayment on rust oleum coated frame (hammer finish) followed by 1/8" oak plywood, finished with 1/2" oak boards. Each board is finished by hand in oak or mahogany stain installed in alternating colors then hand finished with teak oil.
▪ New windshield with original side glass having replaced both window lifts with new including new door hardware as OEM with new felts and window gaskets where needed.
▪ Utility box is made from original bed oak from 1966.
▪ Truck interior is finished in the off white which matches the off white of the truck exterior with piping and carpet matching the main color turquoise truck exterior. Check out the back of the front seat finished in matching turquoise floor carpeting.
▪ New Flowmaster style side exhaust with sweet thrush sounds allow for joyful cruising. A new Retro sound system was added to provide the original look with modern sound.
▪ New custom parking brake system allows for secure parking.
▪ JEGS automatic floor shifter adorns the fresh transmission rebuild.
▪ Notice the 1966 Year of Manufacture original plates from a 1966 Chevrolet Pickup when you come to see this beauty. These are the original stamped plates issued in 1966 not a remanufacture black and yellow plates.
▪ Asking $55,000 and will consider offers. Cash only. Face to face.

Maybe . . . . . just maybe . . . . he really wants to keep it, and now he can tell the wife that "It's just not selling very well, so I guess I'll have to keep it."

Yes folks, they still exist - I bought a 1963 SBFS with BBW Custom C10. Clean open SC title. ALL the fender, door and bed trim is still intact. Aluminum 1963 grille is great but missing one bezel. Custom stainless sail panels intact. Custom SW too but missing one piece. Original L6 with TOTT. Not running.
Pictures coming. Delivery this Thursday 2/23/17.

Here is how I found it. Give it a try where you live.
In the CARS+TRUCKS section, I typed C-10, because using the dash will get different results that C10 will get. The CL listing simply said ANTIQUE TRUCK. However the person listing it filled in the other details and gave the model as C-10.
Well, here it is. I was wrong about the engine. It has a 1971 250ci which I'm fairly sure will run. Notice that this is a Custom truck with all the trimmings. Super straight truck but has a few serious rust issues that need attention. Best of all, it has not been cut up. The engine is not original and the radio hole has been cut bigger (by dummy heads). Sheet metal in the bed is over the original wood. I think I found a really nice 1963.

If this truck is "super straight" like you describe, it needs to get some kind of award for being the most worn looking, yet undamaged truck ever. Yikes, that "patina" is downright painful!

Absolutely right. The rust has taken off 80% of the paint. But I'll pay you $1 for every dent you find. This truck has lived an easy life. It needs rust repair in the usual places where these east coast trucks usually suffer from it. It won't compare to a west coast survivor but it will look good with some normal repairs. I'll share more pics once I have it cleaned up.

Re: Post your 60-66 craigslist finds

That camper is VERY interesting. That style was called a chassis mount camper. There were several styles. The most interesting had a big glass sliding door at the back wall with a small porch. You could back right up to your favorite fishing spot. The 283 would get you by in OK or FL but, not in the hills.
Pretty cool and a good price.

Re: Post your 60-66 craigslist finds

I looked at this one yesterday, and the guy posted it to CL today....
$5000. https://farmington.craigslist.org/cto/6058645241.html

Everything looks good. A few spots on the body that need some TLC: one spot on the passenger quarter panel that was "repaired" and another on the tailgate where someone forgot to latch the gate before taking off.

Has the 351e with Stromberg carb.....

Feels a little high, but maybe....
