I will post a pitcure soon but the tank is behind the gas tank and i have one 380 via air compressor mounted on the outside of the frame. Were at the truck nationals in PA till sunday

First off really nice Burb! How do like the GVOD setup pulling your trailer, does the 327 have enough grunt with the new gears? I drove a new 2015 F250 (6.2 gas, 6-spd auto) with a car trailer behind it that was geared/tired like you describe (3.73/33 tire) and it was great in the city and on the freeway (13/14 mpg @ +75mph). After some research though I found the Ford had a really low first gear 3.97 vs the T400's 2.48 first gear. That and giving up 50+ cubes 379 vs 327 what do you think is it hard to get it all rolling? I've been mulling over these same drivetrain upgrades myself.

Well I guess to answer your question the 327 left something to be desired as far as tq and power it did ok once it got rolling and got 10mpg towing the airstream

Changing from 3:73 to 3:42 didnt help with towing but if you take into account my rear tire size of 27" that makes the 3:42 comparable to a 2000+ truck with 4:10s

The big hills even splitting the gears with the gv I would loose about 10 mph on a hill. It was work dropping and splitting gears so the LQ4 should help alot

4 broken exhaust studs turned into bolts after welding either a washer then nut or just a nut as needed to remove them. I was really scared how this would work....... went way too well !!! all of them out in under 1/2 hour.

Well I got the engine stripped down and cleaned up today. Looks like i should repair the knock sensor wire or replace the harness wire looks pinched.

That's all for today I ordered the Holley ac brackets and the flex plate bushing so the torque converter from the T400 will line up. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LS1-Flexplat...-/251723077551


I need to learn how I can take the signal generator from the gearvendors which is 8000 ppm and multiple it to whatever the ls computer needs to see in order to use the drive by wire cruise. .

Hopefully I can make time to order the Cadillac cts v oil pan setup tomorrow night. The I will be ready to remove the 327 from the suburban

My buddie James 68gmcdually was kind enough to let me have a new intake dropped off at his work. This will replace the damaged one that came with the engine.

How are you getting the VSS signal to the computer? There is a wire that comes from the PCM that provides the proper signal for cruise and speedo, assuming the PCM has received the proper signal from the transmission.

I am looking at using the SGI-5E it can take a 8000ppm and convert it to the 128,000 ppm I think that is whats needed for the cruise to work properly ????. I really don't want to have to deal with a electric speedometer.

The company the converts them is called Red Line Gauge Works they charge $450 to convert your stock gauge to a eletrice stepper motor and the od display becomes a digitall display. Its a really neat setup but I would be into $ 900 CDN into one gauge.

I will have to remember that website . That oil pan was cheaper than I expected it to be . Nice work . I have a 6.0 burb behind the barn that is waiting to have its driveline plucked. Don't have a donor to put it in yet tho . I'm sure I don't have to tell you it's slim Pickens up in our neck of the woods for anything worth worken on . Keep up the great work I'm following along for sure !

Well the T400 and Gear Vendors are gone. I am having a 4L80E Built this week I ordered a Dakota Digital EDC-100 for my speedometer until Hart Rods version of gauges are released. I have a week to get this swap nearly complete...

I would like to come down to TN again. Last time we met up with RUSBUILT and brought a longhorn frame back with this suburban. That trip was one never to forget...No OD 3:73 27" tire no carpet or sound deadingand a junk air ride system.
Truck sure has come a long way


If everything work out smoothly with the swap were thinking of going back to the PA Carsile truck nationals.

Well I am making some progress. There is no way it will be done by the 14th. I forgot how long running around in town trying to get silly things like a oil filtet can take.


I got the gas pedal modified to fit using original holes. The new pedal angle is a little steeper but I like it. The gas pedal is closer to the same height as the brake pedal.

I also got the cruise lever ls71Nova made for me installed.

Got the engine in last night. I need the transmission before I can go any further as the mounts are sliders and I want to try and make the aluminum shaft from the 2003 short box extended cab fit. Its around 3" shorter than the original shaft.

The CTSV oil pan is 1" above the front crossmember. The dirty dingo mounts raise the engine 1/2" over the stock engine height. I have to measure but it looks like the hot rod pan kit would have been flush with the crossmember.

2010 Camaro manifolds and down pipes fit very nice. Just going to tie into existing system for now.
