They'd never be able to find the NOS parts to fix it. Can you imagine the heartbreak replacing factory stuff with the new aftermarket junk? I'd literally kill whoever hit it.

Hey Joe,

At the current rate of miles/yr, your truck will get to 100,000 miles in the year 3,975.

Joe, hat's off to you for actually driving the truck. I'm proud of ya for that!! The world has enough trailer queens. They are meant to be enjoyed, besides- who would you be saving it for??

Re: Took the 2k mile truck out today

Nate, I'll be there, just not sure what trucks I'll take? I might just drive this one and not mess with bringing any others. I would like to bring the 2 black ones, and this one, but it's just a pain getting 3 trucks there.

Joe you have a knack for picking up low mileage original trucks. Very nice. Living in the bread basket is truck country.

That has crossed my mind more than a few times. When an "all original classic" gets damaged, the repair work will take it out of the "all original" status. The value of the "repaired" vehicle will never be the same as pre collision "all original" value. A vehicle that has been already restored is not effected as harshly, it can always be re restored.

I know what I would do with it...

Porterbuilt... McGaughy's... Wilwood... Billet Specialties...

But I also think it's great you are going to preserve it.

Exactly. Not just damage to the body but also to the drivetrain as well can do that. The parts are correct and original to the vehicle only once.

Driving over the crank in a matching numbers engine sucks too. I did this on a 70 RS-Z/28 I had. Lost a big chunk of value when the car no longer had the original matching numbers engine.

Nice truck Joe! I have the long wheelbase version of this truck, but mine has 74,000 miles on it. When I got it in 1991 it had 10,000 miles on it.

I'm like Joe, I guess. He's got other trucks that are drivers. This one has special value because it has not been driven, and it's like a time capsule of how these trucks looked back in the day. Drive it, and it becomes ordinary pretty quick.

Re: Took the 2k mile truck out today

Great truck. I don't think I would like to own it though.. I would want to drive it too badly, and when I did drive it, it would make me sick to the stomach putting the miles on it. I think its awesome you are keeping the miles off of it.
