Re: 48 5 Window air ride driver
Its funny because I hate the look of mine when it sits in the garage on jack stands when I'm working on it. It always looks so much nicer aired out..
Nice choice in wheels. It coming together nicely. What are you doing for a paint color? Marc

Got the steering column (68 GMC) mounted and hooked up, Vintage Air heat / AC unit installed and the front fender lip "rolled" for tire clearance.

Re: 48 5 Window air ride driver
My buddy Terry added filler pieces in front of the front stake pockets on the sides of the bed, lengthened the round rails and added a flange on top of the front bed rail that follows the contour of the back of the cab. It sure is good to have a second pair of eyes on your stuff during construction, his fabrication skills don't hurt either!

Re: 48 5 Window air ride driver
Finally finished fab work on the bed, the 5 gallon air tank, 2 Viair 400 compressors, the Big Red valve and the battery all fit in the compartment under the bed floor. We also added the Danchuck A/C vents to the 55 Chevy dash. I hope to get the bed sandblasted and primed this week, remove the cab and start plumbing brake lines.

Re: 48 5 Window air ride driver
The truck is stripped down to a rolling chassis, the bed is getting blasted and primered and we are starting to plumb the brakes and fuel lines. The list is getting shorter, 13 weeks until Power Tour!

Got the brake lines and transmission cooling lines plumbed this week end. Here is a picture of the Griffin radiator with the modified Lincoln Mark 8 fan attached.

Re: 48 5 Window air ride driver
I had to shorten and change the collector angle on the drivers side header due to clearence issues. The exhaust is done back to the mufflers, the tailpipes will be added when the truck has been assembled further. The bed is back from blasting and has a light coat of DP50 to protect it during bodywork which will begin tonight. There was a comment a while back regarding body clearence for the large C notch that was added to the center crossmember on the frame, as this picture shows, that notch was cut out and a smaller one was added as the body bottomed out on it, good eye, I wish that I would have noticed it first!

Re: 48 5 Window air ride driver
I really like that shade of green on the motor. Really nice build. I wish I could count down my build in weeks. I have to count it down in years ....

Re: 48 5 Window air ride driver
We put the bed back on tonight to begin straightning the sheetmetal, the fabbed bed came out good but lots of welding equals lots of warpage, and sandblasting adds even more fun, But the louvers in the box where the air ride system hides under the bed floor makes me grin.

Re: 48 5 Window air ride driver
The truck was going to be the original dark green, but after looking at the engine finished in that color for a while, I decided to go with red instead. We have taken it down to the bare frame to touch up the paint where tabs and brackets were added as well as some modifications that were made. After the frame is re-shot, we can begin assembley. Power Tour is in a couple months and although it's in a bunch of pieces now, it's starting to feel like we can make it. It looks like DP50 light grey epoxy primer will be the color for the maiden voyage.

Re: 48 5 Window air ride driver
My buddy Terry re-sprayed the frame last Sunday (using it as a jig to scratch build the bed was sorta brutal on the paint) and Monday we began assembley. Here's the progress so far.
