Re: The history of you and your truck
Quote:
I bought the said 71 K10... my first truck, and first 4x4. I cant say, now 3 years later that i regret it, but i regret that its still rusty, and 3 different colors. Its been a good truck to me really. So far Ive mostly collected parts for it, but never started working on the body because i always need to use it for somthing. I have however rebuilt the rearend two times (first time I just slapped a used carrier in to get by) second time I found an original posi carrier with the right gear ratio and rebiult it right. Ive rebuilt the engine, put new exaust on it, rebiult the carb, two starters, two alternators and two waterpumps (cheap ass orielly parts) ive been through 3 sets of tires, almost rebiult the entire front end with all new brakes/ seals and bearings, everything is new minus the carrier and ring and pinion, i could go on. Right after i bought it I bought a nice rust free 69 K20, so this truck went on the backburner, but soon after i sold the 69 for more than it was worth to me, so now its about time to get the body in shape... or maybe I'll wait another 3 years? |

Re: The history of you and your truck
I found mine last summer on craigslist (gotta love that website). I fell in love with it from the moment I set down in the saddle and started the quiet as a mouse 350. The retired 80 year old GM employee that I bought it from had bought it used in 1970 with about 8k miles and It was used as his deer lease vehicle, it has 72k miles on it now. He told me it has probably hauled over 200 deer from his lease to his house in Fort Worth. He told me it was always parked in his garage unless it was deer season. I believe him because the turqoise interior doesnt have one ounce of fade to it. He said he had to have the Q-Jet worked on every few years because it set so much. My wife just rolls her eyes when I start talking to people about my baby. I finally got it back from getting its first paint job since it was new. Hugger Orange/with White top.
