I'm sorry I should have stated that differently. I didn't mean to imply anything untoward. I've read plenty of your posts to know you're intelligent, informed, and logical.
I guess I've been in too many debates about 100 MPG carburetors and other such myths.
Again I apologize.

Re: Weird engine time!

I know what you mean. Yeah, I don't quite get the definition of the term conspiracy theory. I see the literal definition and that would mean there are theories formed about a group with a secretive organized common alterior motive. I just talk about the result of the action, not why or intent. I didn't know about the timeline of events involved that you laid out. What I read condensed it to little more than I posted in different words. I love the sound of that 138hp diesel. Reminds me of the Detroit 2-stroke. No heads!! Just The combustion chamber is the space left between two cylinders stroking toward each other. So simple, but took complex engineered rotating assembly. They made it work!

Re: Weird engine time!

That pendulum engine is amazing. The machining of the cylinder bore in the pre-CNC 5 axis machine world would have been something to see.

Here is the Adams Farwell engine. Fixed crank radial engine. The video really shows it well.

http://www.douglas-self.com/MUSEUM/T...radialcars.htm

https://youtu.be/Y0XbqHUAI-0

There are other radial engine powered cars shown but I believe the Adams Farwell was the only one that actually reached production and was sold to the public.

The video of that running is awesome! I'm thinking you're right about the round engines making it out to the public. The Julian in Reno is the prototype, one of one. My pic does not do it justice but this video does: https://youtu.be/55u1AnIMmFQ
Can you imagine the dust created by this thing on a dirt road?

Re: Weird engine time!

Uses less conventional moving parts by adding more moving parts. Six of one, half a dozen the other? Neat idea and neat sound. Not sure what to think pro or con, but it seems like taking the long way to arrive at the same place. Love the ingenuity, and it works!

Re: Weird engine time!

Another odd one but seemingly with more practical uses. I wonder what the sound is like?

Re: Weird engine time!

I found this video. Sounds smooth. I'd like to hear a boosted one with more exhaust note. I'd really like to hear it in a car running around a race track. I see that Porche 356 but have yet to find a video with it running

Fixed crank radial engine.
That describes a rotary radial engine like planes in WW1 used. Crank is fixed, the entire cylinder bank rotates around instead. Bolt a propeller to the cylinder bank and presto, you have thrust. The youtube vid of the engine running shows the cylinders stationary, so how is the crank fixed?

Re: Weird engine time!

That's what I wondered. Misnamed I guess. I want to see that 356 rip it around the track. Awesome power to weight ratio. The low clearance of the two cylinders would be a worry for me. I had a finned cast aluminum oil sump bolted under my '56 VW. I let a friend use it while I went out of town. He went down into old Baltimore with their rough streets hailing a full load of people and busted that thing on a manhole and blew it up.

Re: Weird engine time!

This video from my post is the fixed crankshaft car where the block powers the wheels. The next post is of a fixed radial engine block with a more traditional crankshaft driving the wheels operation.

Did you see this one? Not very satisfying as far as a driving video but it at least idles. That 356 is pretty slick.

No, but just now did. That thing is a work of art. I like the hot rod flare he mixed in so well. Now I really want to see it go

It is a GMC ToroFlow 478 V6, SM420, and a huge Brownie with no data plate in an early 70s D300 chassis.
