Re: 93 s10 v8 swap
WHAT IS THE BEST SURFACE ON WHICH TO PAINT POR-15?
POR-15 likes rusted surfaces best. Seasoned metal and sandblasted metal are also good. POR-15 does not adhere well to smooth, shiny surfaces, but will adhere well with the use of Marine Clean and Metal Ready preps. http://www.por15.com/Data%20Sheets/P...cationInfo.pdf

Re: 93 s10 v8 swap
It will be fine. Anyone who thinks painting anything over rust is a sure cure repair deserves the end result they get. I've seen restored cars after the floors were por-d. The rust in the areas they didn't address was worse than areas they replaced with new metal because the por held in the original rust and it just got worse and worse.

Re: 93 s10 v8 swap
New question for you guys. Have any of you had problems with the oil pan hitting on the crossmember? My mounts are in the raised position and i can't put the motor back any further and the oil pan is still ressting on the crossmember. Any ideas where to find a different pan?

Re: 93 s10 v8 swap
Can you use a block of wood and a hammer or just a hammer to help get your clearance you need? How about making some shims to put under the engine mounts and frame?

Re: 93 s10 v8 swap
I'm not sure what the pan was off of and the trans is at the right height. I did some looking at a couple of other pans i had in the garage and the deep part of the pan on them is 2 inches shorter than the one on the motor now. I'm gonna pull the motor this weekend and test fit this other pan i found and see what happens. If I'm still having issues I'm gonna try the block of wood and hammer solution.

Re: 93 s10 v8 swap
Also ryan I could make shims for the motor mounts but the engine is already at too much of an angle and if i raise it anymore it creates clearance issues in the trans tunnel and the with the headers. If i can lower the motor to the upper holes in the engine mounts it will solve all my other clearance problems aside from the oil pan and i'll be able to put a 4 inch air cleaner on it.

Re: 93 s10 v8 swap
alldata diy for $25 will give you the pin outs on the ECM hook ups so you can use wires and such. I have abuddy with a garage that had alldata and I printed mine out.... but scraped the stock dash anyway...

Re: 93 s10 v8 swap
Its been a while, but finally making progress. The motor and everything is back in the truck. I pulled all the extra wires out my wiring harness and put what was left back in and so far everything works as it should. Will find out more next week when i start it.
A tidbit for future refernece, I found on autozone you can get complete wiring schematics and alot of other helpful information in their how to section. Just register with them for free and you get all kinds of reference material.

Re: 93 s10 v8 swap
New question:
Anybody else ever used the corvette radiator they offer in the kits from v8 s10? I'm wondering whether or not you can use the stock radiator mounts and hold downs?

Re: 93 s10 v8 swap
I'm using the corvette radiator, no on the stock hold downs and such. look around you'll find pics of how they made their mounts, pretty simple really, with the new body ones its a bit more of a pain...

Re: 93 s10 v8 swap
Its been a while since i worked on the truck. My brother ran into some financial issues so it kinda got put on the back burner. A couple weeks ago i mad a bracket for the fuel pump and started running fuel lines. I have the radiator support bolted on and have one fender halfway bolted on. There is a possibility the frame may be bent after all. I never found any stress marks and it cross measured fine, but there is some problems with getting the front clip to line up straight. Anyway here are some pics of how the truck looks like at the moment.

Re: 93 s10 v8 swap
Yes ryan i'm hoping once i get the 78 squared away i can get back to working on this. It would be nice to hear this thing run and maybe move around under its own power.
Krazy texan- I appreciate the offer and will keep you in mind. It seems like everytime things start going good i run into some other problem lol.
