Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread
I haven't seen the yellow one except the one I bought. The police truck and the blue one are new releases I believe. I have seen them a few times mostly at Walmart.

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread
Hold on to that middle truck for sure!! You've got yourself a nice error there. You've got the Valentine's Day truck on a Hot Wheels Delivery card. The Valentine's Day series is a Wal-Mart exclusive and you found one mis-carded at Target. Cool.

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread
Here's one someone might want - http://cgi.ebay.com/ZEE-Toys-Rough-R...item335b02978e
It says Ford, but it doesn't look much like a Ford to me.

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread
No, it looks like a Courier...but the package graphics illustrate full size Chevy

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread
I was definately influenced by the package graphics. I don't even remember a Ford Courier, probably for good reason.

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread
This is my small 1/64 scale square body collection.
The first 3 are more recent acquisitions. 2 Hot Wheels and 1 Matchbox. I have 2 of each of the 3 trucks so I can have one out to display and the other left in the blister. I've never run across any more than just these 3 pairs or I would have picked them up too. Then there's my original Fall Guy truck made by Ertl. I put a lot of miles on this one as a kid. Now it's got the easy life parked on the shelf with the other trucks. Looking through this thread helped to freshen my memory. There are a lot of trucks posted in here that I just know I have boxed up and stored away. I may need to go do some digging. |

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread
I've been looking for that blue "Hot Ones" version, but I don't think I'm going to find it. I'll probably have to resort to eBay.

I actually bought two.(just in case) idk what happened to the other so a wise investment i guess. but it seemed like my wal mart was overstocked on these when they had them. i doubt i find it but if i do i can let you know.

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread
That one and The Hot Ones Custom '77 Dodge Van are 2 that I've been looking for, but probably won't be finding. I like to get 2 of each myself that way I can open one and park it on my shelf behind my desk.

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread
I think of these Hot Wheels as 73-80s...Ramblin' Wrecker and Backwoods Bomb:

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread
My Larry's Towing Ramblin' Wrecker was always one of my favorites as a kid. Did you know that when that one was originally issued, it had the actual home phone number of Larry Wood (the designer) on the side. He was getting lots of phone calls before they reissued it. If you can ever find one of those with the phone number, it's worth some big money.

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread
I always liked these, too. Yes,I did know about the ones with Larry Wood's #. I'm holding out for an excellent to mint. I just got a mint yellow one I'm real happy about. Those were in a set,so no package. I wanted to bid that packaged original shown. I don't have PayPal (ever) and for some unsolvable reason can't get it under my current Ebay name and e-mail. So,I always send a message asking if a postal money order would be accepted before I bid and how this is how all my transactions have been carried out with great success (100%). Out of 50 or more purchases I've had 3 say no and that guy (DH) was one of them. HWC reissued that same white truck commemorating Larry's 40th ann. and a Charcoal one as a HWC issue
The Backwoods Bomb came in Green w/dragon tampo. Then, there's a blue version (fairly rare) with a stripe tampo, which is the same tampo as on the '12 re-issue in the same Green as the one w/dragon. I got the ok to bid on that blue one in the package, went to check it out and it was already up to $68 or so,and I didn't bid. That thing ended up at $169!!
