Will have to look and see what the "grand slam" kit is. My CPP kit (won't be here for a couple weeks), is pretty basic, 2-1/2" drop spindles, and I ordered the 2" drop springs and matching shocks to go with. Do you have a build thread?

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
Not sure where the issue lies with uplading pictures... computers
manged to get these to upload: front end mostly torn down grill section inside rear section of hood, the hood is in immaculate condition!!! the passenger side fender, the rear support is mint (dirty, but mint)

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
it is hard to tell from that las photo, but all of the steel on that passenger fender is totaly solid, I get happier as I take parts off and have a look at them. My paint and body guy suggests I use chemical stripper, to remove paint, fast easy, and less chance of damaging panels.

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
I mentioned my parents in my first thread, I plan to put these pictures in the cab above where the seat belt shoulder strap will mount, one in each corner of the cab, the first picture is pretty self explanatory (wedding day, that is from May 16 1953, the other picture is either late 49, or 1950. That is my Dad posing in front of his first brand new car, a 1950 Ford Custom. I contemplated getting one of those, but, I really, really wanted a 64-66 C10

Great pictures. Love to find a 50 Ford in that condition today. One of my all time favorites.

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
I had a look at that kit, ball joints, tie rod ends etc. as well. I had new upper BJ's installed in the spring. All of the other steering components checked out then. I will pick up anything that seems suspect as I go.

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
ordered a 250HP 350 crate engine today from GM, they matched Jegs online sale price, and there is no freight, I just have to pick it up from the dealer

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
moving right along, good choice on the engine, a good perfomer rpm air gap intake would look great on it, are you going to do a cam swap or anything to it or install it as is?

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
CRGR, I just checked out this thread. Nice story.
What is the history behind your truck? It looks alot like the '66 a friend of mine brought up to Central Ontario, from Georgia, in the late 80's. Greg.

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
I sure thought so!

This truck was an Arizona truck until 1986. The Wisconsin Title dated 6/26/86 showed the odometer reading at 68,925 miles, odometer read 73,142 when I bought it from that guy. I had the Wisconsin title in my possession during the import process, but had to surrender it to title it here. The title had 25 year old coffee stain on it too, I scanned it so I could keep it. When I bought the truck, I drove to Port Huron with a buddy, met the transport driver, went through customs, and drove it home. A little bit better than a two hour drive, smiling like a jacka$$ eating thistles the whole way... waiting for something to break... wanted to go right past me exit and keep on driving! I put another 3000 miles on it over the summer.

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
I had a bit of garage time today, dismantled the rad support/grill support. Everything looks solid here to, a bit more evidence of a minor collision at the front right corner, but nothing alarming. Funny thing though, there are no front bumper support brackets. I also removed and dismantled the engine compartment portion of the heater, again, everything looks to be in excellent condition. I am going to look into having the heater core pressure tested, but it looks almost like new.

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
question for you guys, it has been a long time since I pulled an engine, which bolts do I remove from the mount? Do I just remove the two on either side of the perch (white zip tie is pointing at one of them)?
Oh, and say hello to my new friend!

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
On the motor mounts, I just reach up inside the motor mount bracket and remove the 7/16" bolt (5/8" bolt head) that holds the motor mount to the bracket. The bolt you are pointing to with the zip tie, is one of 3 bolts that attach the motor mount to the block.

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
Thanks Captain! Still have to get my paypal set up... No panick to order the PS bracket, still don't have my PS box. While I have your attention Captain, I ordered the CPP front brake/spindle kit, and their booster. I have been assuming that it bolts right up, you wouldn't know if I still need your bracket would you? Again, I have lots of time, I can order it and wait on it if I do need it.

Thanks.
Maybe we can get together next season and compare trucks. Cambridge isn't that far from Newmarket. Greg.

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
Absolutely, great idea. I more or less went through Newmarket a couple of times this summer. One trip to a buddy's place in Gravenhurst, and a cmping trip in Orillia. Took #9 accross to the 400.
