Re: Classic Heartbeat?
I was here by Beth's side until 4:00 am this morning. She just couldn't go to sleep for some reason. I had to get back to the 5th wheel so I could get a couple hours of sleep myself. So I returned to her bedside by 8:30 am and she mouthed to me that she had thrown up 3 times. Her nausea seems to be worsening for some reason and her system seems to overpower any antinausea medications the doctors give her. She also developed a bloody nose from the tube feed inserted in her right nostril. They are trying a sinus moisturizer to see if that helps keep that from happening and helps to stop the bleeding. It's hard to say why it started bleeding other than she tugs and pushes on it because it's uncomfortable. If the bleeding isn't resolved they will probably insert another one in her left nostril. They are talking about one inserting one surgically into her stomach through her abdomen, but I am not too sure I like that idea given the fact that she has had many pic lines and central lines inserted only to be removed because they suspected them to be causes for blood infections. They tell me that anything inserted into the body could cause these types of infections, so I don't know why a stomach tube would be any different. This continues to be the hardest thing we have ever gone through and I pray that there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Until then I keep advocating for her and taking care of her as best I can. My love for her will not let me do anything different.

Re: Classic Heartbeat?
I feel for your situation and I have no experience to back up my advise, but...by staying strong for your wife...you are staying strong yourself. Keep it up!
Lord, Please give them the strength to endure this.

Re: Classic Heartbeat?
This is going to be extremely hard for me to put into words. Beth's lungs are now getting worse and worse by the day or even by the hour. The doctors are talking about changing directions from life saving care to comfort care. I haven't been given a time nor do I think they know one. It will depend on how her lungs do and how rapidly they worsen. The doctor asked if something catastrophic were to happen would I want them to do extreme measures to resuscitate her, but said that if successful it would only prolong her misery.
I agree with them so as hard as it will be on me, I believe from the bottom of my heart it's what's best for her and that is what matters most. I cannot express my sorrow now, I feel it is far to soon for her, but it's in God's hands. I just don't want her to suffer any longer.

Re: Classic Heartbeat?
Wes,
I'm relatively new on the board and probably like many here, we've never met, yet we're all praying for you and Beth. I can't imagine what you're going through right now and to read your words is simply heartbreaking. If it brings any comfort at all, please know there are people on this board, far and wide with the two of you in our thoughts and prayers... God Bless... Kevin

I recall Beth answering the shop phone at times. You are an amazingly supportive husband and I applaud you. So sorry Wes. Our prayers are with you.

Re: Classic Heartbeat?
It looks like I may be able to get Beth ho.e tomorrow. She has asked me to turn off her ventilator and has tried a couple times herself. I told her we are working to get her home and that settled her down. I hope and pray I can fulfill her wish because she is what matters. I will be with her all night and will follow the ambulance home. This will make her happy and that's all that matters. I heart aches both figuratively and literally, but the pain is worth every second I get with her and to know I was able to grant her, her wish to get home. I only wish I could get Mike home to see her. I am out of words for now. My heart aches beyond belief and I am having a hard time choking back the tears. She is the love of my life and I don't know what I will do without her. ❤❤
