Re: Project: "just a little rust repair"

Here's when I made the wide whites for the black truck a few years back, took white letter tires and ground them down with a 4-1/2" grinder with a normal grinding wheel, went to a tiger paw/flap wheel then finished up with some sand paper. They turned out pretty decent, they're "10 footers" lol but it beats paying to buy them though.

Thanks guys! I never in a million years would've dreamed that this truck would have a frame like this under it, and like the title says it all started out with "just a little rust repair" lol luckily for me the guy helping me said he wanted a challenge and wanted to do a full round tube. It has definitely been worth it.

Well I'm glad you found it and thanks! It all happened to time up really well last fall and my grandpa having the Vette drivetrain in his barn and deciding he wasn't going to use it really worked out for me lol thats what got this ball rolling.

LOL yeah we've got it pretty well taken care of now! it started out with needing the usual cab corners, rockers, bottoms of doors, and along the top of the windshield inside the cab....... and that has lead to all of this. One thing lead to another in a huge way this time.

Amazing build. Keep the progress comming. So how did your grandfather end up with the vette suspension and what was he originally going to do with it?

Thanks! I had to get them made through Raceline to with with the body and vette suspension.... I ended up having about $1700 in them, I could've went with something more basic but I loved these wheels and wanted to go with the fatties in the rear.

Thanks! He got the suspension back in 1994 out of a wrecked vette and was going to put it under the 58' vettte he has but never ended up using it and decided when we had my truck tore down for the rust repair that we should use it on my truck, so no complaints came from me lol

Really nice job on that frame and those wheels give it another look I like it. 1700 is a real good deal for those wheels just ordered my 20x12 racelines and paid 1530 just for the rear wheels.Like the way the 18s look on your truck hope the 20s dont look to big on mine.

Yeah I was in the same boat on whether to go 20's or 18's, I went with the 18's just to play it safe but I'd say you'll be fine with yours. Did you get yours in yet? It took me about 10-11 weeks to get mine.
