Re: 61 GMC 4x4 1ton build
Finishing up a big welding job this weekend, hoping that I will have a little extra time now... Nobody wants it on the road more than I do! Thanks for the comments

Haha! That's funny that is almost identical to what I had in mind for my front bumper...... Wish I lived closer... I'd like a test drive

Re: 61 GMC 4x4 1ton build
Well not a lot to report this week.... I did pick up some Stewart Warner deluxe gauges for the dash and leveled the rear axle so it sits nicely now... Picked up another big welding job so short on time....oh and yesterday I think I picked up the flu! I'll get some pics up this week when I can sit upright ... For now it's NyQuil and dream about my repairs

fuel MPG
I average 24 combined MPG consistently. I have got as high as 30 on a trip, but that's not an average, and as low as 16 towing.
The 4 does about 20% better on fuel than the 6 but a heavy work truck needs a 6, a 4 is ok for a toy or light truck. when I built this truck in 2000 6bt were hard to find and cost $5000 plus the 4bt was a deal at $3500 with 270 hours on a rebuild. I still had to get an adapter and flywheel as well as fan and acc. though so I spent close to what a 6 cost than. here are some pics from when i built it in 2000 sorry for the high jack ky-donzi

Re: 61 GMC 4x4 1ton build
Well it is about done, I still have on my punch list to finish the headache rack behind the cab, finish the PTO winch install, finish the A/C install (got to add condenser and dryer) and finish alittle wiring in places.

Looks really good. I want to see more pics of your AC install.
I have a compound set I may have to try on mine.
