Got my tires put in layaway at the Wal-Mart today .... 295/50/15 for the rear and 205/65/15 for the front.... Going to order my radiator, transmission cross member and tubular engine mounts this weekend..... I have vacation coming up the first week in October plan is to have this thing running by the end of vacation.... I can't wait !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I just want to give props to everyone that has taken out these rivets before cause it sucks.... I worked for two hours just to get these two out.... I just gave up and well you see .... Can't save them all I guess...lol

I also forgot to mention my valve covers came in yesterday.... Wow they look awesome too ..... Now I just need to figure out how to drill the holes in them ..... Just doesn't sound right to take a drill to a perfectly good "Brand new..." set of valve covers... Oh well right.... LOL

Thanks ole dollor... It's taken me about 6 years but I am finally gonna at least get the engine back in it so I can enjoy driving it around next spring .... I think this fall and winter I am gonna get her road worthy ... I still have to fix the brakes and other things ...

Better check the specs on the valve springs on those heads and compare it to what the cam manufacturer says you need.
With 254/264 duration @ .050" with 312/322 advertised duration that is a "fast moving" cam with aggressive ramps so you are going to need dual valve springs. I hope your heads have at least 1.8" installed spring height, if it's set up for 1.7" or 1.75" you could run into clearance problems with .537" and .559" lift. I'd recommend dual valve springs so you could do the initial cam break in with only the outer springs then after the cam and lifters are seated you could put in the inner springs and then after those springs are conditioned (went through a heat cycle) you will be ready to go. High pressure single springs make it hard to break in a cam unless you have a set of "break-in" springs that will handle that much lift. The springs on the heads now might serve as break in springs but I doubt they will handle that much lift. Don't expect that cam to live very long in any event, and worse yet if it and the springs are not broken in properly. If those heads are 64cc, and the pistons flat top 4 valve relief, then you are about 10:1 compression. You could go with less cam but in any event make sure your heads will handle the lift and the springs will handle the aggressiveness of the cam ramps. Yeah, with that cam, if you have power brakes, you will need more vacuum like an add-on pump or reservoir or both. That cam, and that intake, you will also need like 3.73 or 4.11 rear gears and at least 2,800 RPM converter. You gonna race that thing? |

Why is it that when you start posting stuff about your cam people automatically think " Oh this guy sure as heck don't have any idea of what he's doing....." Ok here goes the heads are 64cc chambers and yes it does have flat top 4 valve relief pistons with DUEL VALVE SPRINGS rated at .650 lift .... The rear is a 4:11 gear ratio... The trans is a 350 turbo automatic with a shift kit and a 2800-3200 rpm boss hog converter.... Honestly I have done this before .... We did a 355 flat top piston engine with stock vortec truck heads stock rockers and .500 lift springs for my dad's 1966 chevelle with the summit brand 1108 cam just one step under the 1109 that I have..... He drives it on the street with no issues .... Oh and it has the factory converter..... I think mine will be just fine... Ok I'm done......

Your truck looks like its going to be incredible.
I have a similar set up in mine v8 350 4.1 rear end auto trans. It's stock though. I really dig it. All the best to you,hope you're having a lot of fun and it's always a labor of love!

Sorry everyone I have been really busy working .... I got my low mount alternator bracket made and installed .... I also got my friends cherry picker to use for a couple weeks... I know it's redneck looking but it will work....
