Thumbs up Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Taking my 84 3/4 ton suspension off the old frame to clean up.
Measuring how far back my fire wall needs to be to make sure the head will clear.

I repaired a rust hole in the left front door and started replacing the door skin on the right.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Well.......
I found this project on CL yesterday and couldnt resist buying it. Drove it 65 miles home last night and it drove great for what I paid for it. Spent the day today with my two young sons cleaning out the "new" toy and tinkering with little things so I could start my To-Do list. Gonna be a fun project!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I swapped out my old cracked valve cover for a nice new dress up chrome one!! Looks pretty. Question for u guys tho: I have 3 holes in the new valve cover. My new breather cap is in the front one just like it was. The hose is going in the back one just like it was. Below the front hole tho, on the driver side of the valve cover is another same size hole. I have nothing to put in it. Is it a oil filler hole maybe? If so what do I put in it while it's running? I'm assuming it has to be plugged. HELP??!!!!!

It's a 230 Chevy L6. 63 Chevy c10 short/step. Thanx men

Got the OEM inners mounted today. First day we've hard with no rain in about 2 weeks. Damn she starting to look like a truck. These OEM fenders bolted right in not one problem.

I also mounted the hood hinges, anyone have a trick to mounting the springs?

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I finished rewiring the water temp. and oil pressure gauges and stereo. Prewired the Fosgate punch 150 amp and Kenwood EQ. Turned it over for the first time in over 1 year. Gas started shooting out of the front of the carb. Its a Holley 4160 600cfm vacuum secondary, rebuilt it 1 year ago. Also reinstalled epoxied gas tank, new fuel line, hoses, and filters. New sending unit and connecting hose to fuel neck installed. Removed carb. and removed front bowl. Air nozzled and wired out all ports. Checked accell. pump, checked ok. Cleaned out primary nozzles and reinstalled. Turned over and fired right up! Accell good and idle good. Shut-off and looked inside carb. Found secondary venturi is dripping fuel on the right side steadily and fuel is leaking out of the throttle body gasket on the driver's side. UGH!!! More work to do next week!!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Cut out the rusted part on the tailgate that's going to eventually end up with the bed I have to fix up. Hand fab'd the patch panel. I little more filling welds and grinding and it'll be ready for a tiny bit of body filler, prep and paint!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Installed a IPod stereo set up today. It consists of a Kicker Pxi50.2 controller a Kicker HS8 powered subwoofer and a pair of 4" 2-way speakers mounted in a pair of moulded plastic Versa-pods. The sound is incredible and it is totally hidden from view.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Good evening I took my truck on it's maiden voyage today!! It is a 1966 c20, 250eng, 4.57 gears, 8ft dump bed w/ grain sides and stockracks and steel floor, pto pump. I bought it at auction 3wks ago from original owner's sale. Been working on it every spare moment. It has always been shedded but mechanically neglected. just a few thing left to do but I can start using as is. I am excited! It is emerald green with white top and matching split rims which I will get rid of as soon as I can. Lowell
