Re: Another Barrett Jackson truck…..

Don't cars almost always sell for less than what the owner has in them? Someone could probably find a way to put 100K into a 74 Pinto, but it would be pretty much impossible to get 100K out of a 74 Pinto. This seems especially true for cars that aren't incredibly popular, i.e. our trucks.

Of course, this also means we can afford to buy more of them (73-87 trucks that is, not 74 Pintos).

Yea, thats why they say, "Cars aren't investments." I love seeing cars for sale with "30K invested" for sale for $18K OBO.

I cannot believe a '56 Olds went for $330K today.

Good to hear you didn't bite it in an explosion from a rear-end collision. Was it those that were faked on TV or the Chevy trucks? I was too young, but I remember my dad complaining about it. Must've been Chevys, he never had a Pinto.

A guy I new dumped $25 grand into a 74 Nova. Powder coated subframe and rear axle, subframe connectors, NOS rear quarters and fenders, Built 406 small block and pro-built TH350. I looked at his reicipts and with the paint/bodywork factored in it tallied right at $25k. Sad thing was shortly after he finished it he died. His dad took the car and had thought of selling it as it was painful to look at. Being that 74's aren't nearly as desireable as earlier Novas, it apprasied for almost 10k less than his reciept value. It was a beautiful car too. He wised up and kept the car and ran it in his son's honor.

Short of building a true, actual 1 of xx COPO Camaro, Hemi Cuda or other rare muscle car, nobody really sells a car or truck for what they have into it. In the real world its only worth what somebody is willing to pay. At an auction it's worth what two morons with fat checkbooks are willing to fight over to pay. If you only get one moron bidding on it at auction, it's going back to the real world statement.

Re: Another Barrett Jackson truck…..

It was a Holiday 98. This car debuted at SEMA, and no doubt has a ton of money in it, but $330K? C'mon.

Re: Another Barrett Jackson truck…..

I'm sure Bob Johnson was a little disappointed that his G-Force Cuda only pulled in $588,500.00 lot#1290
A local shop took a restored 71 Cuda and walked away with $517,000.00 lot#1306
I'm sure they weren't happy with that.
The bidding was some of the strangest I have ever seen on BJ.
It was nice to see that turd Bus that Von Howard once lived in go for $46,000.
The previous owners paid well over $100,000 for it. I laughed my ass off.
I guess I never have been a big fan of Mr. Howard.
