Re: Looking for my Grandfathers 1971 GMC SIERRA
Good idea.
If I would have bought a truck and some cat started hounding me to sell it to him. I would get a little ticked. Especially if I found out he tracked me down using the police. That's borderline stalking. When you sell a rig for whatever reason. You cut all ties to it. Even if it has sentimental value. That's gone the day you sign the title over to the next cat. The person that bought it has all the right in the world to do with it as they see fit in their eyes. It is time to move on. Its not had to look for another truck on your own. Expecting every one else to do all the searching and info digging for you is silly. You need to pick up the phone ad make some calls, and search the local papers as well. Gary

Re: Looking for my Grandfathers 1971 GMC SIERRA
funny thing is i live about 10 min from denton, at first i was thinking my uncle may have bought this truck but he's only had lwb chevys so it isn't him. I understand how you feel about it seemingly being taken away, my grandpas truck sat behind my great grandmas shed for 20 years before my uncle quietly took it to the scrapyard without asking if anyone had any aspirations for it as i and my dad did. Still miss getting in it and the little things i saw in his last daily driver that i learned about him, even though i never did know him. Rusted out tailgate and all its most likely long gone but i think the best thing for you is to let it go but that probably won't happen. Some people don't see the value and sentimentality in vehicles like i do but most people don't enjoy trucks like i do. Same thing happened to my dad when his grandpa died, his grandpa took pride in it and since my dad liked it so much told him he could have it when he died, but someone in the family needed the cash more than feeling like asking around if anyone wanted after he died so they sold it away too. Anyway i'll keep my eye out for it, headed to the salvage yard next week too. Also restoring a c10 with my dad now and just like my first truck i'll never sell it. Don't have any angst about it either i'm sure theres something else you can cherish about him rather than this.

Re: Looking for my Grandfathers 1971 GMC SIERRA
Life is to short to stress out over material things. YES I know we all love trucks. But you can get another one man. Trust I know the meaning of sentimental but its the memories in our minds that count most. BUy another truck and work on it for the mean time and shoot who knows you might find your Pawpaw truck and then you got 2 trucks

Also to ad I wish I had my dad's 65 chevy truck but he sold it back in the 80's. and I wish i never got rid of my 64 chevy truck which was my first vehicle. But hey like I said "Memories" and they ARE all replacable. Just cant replace the ones you LOVED MOST.

Re: Looking for my Grandfathers 1971 GMC SIERRA
My guess is if this truck was at least fairly solid, then it's probly not been parted out since its a short bed. However, the possibility that its been re done to the point you wouldn't recognize it is a real possibility. Also very likley a Chevy now too. I know the last two trucks I I've re done the previous owners wouldn't have recognized them.

Strange, but I'd bet my truck that person is a tad young.
