Re: Show me your 55-59 Suburbans/Panels please
Atommik, Coachbuilders did make them as limo's, taxi's, and other service type vehicles back in the day. Here is a link that has more info about them.

Re: Show me your 55-59 Suburbans/Panels please
Time to drag up this old thread to show my Suburban. I have had this for 30 years, but haven't driven it in about 20 It was supposed to have been a Cal-trans truck. I don't know if it was even called that back in '57. I would like to see what the original color was, if this is true. Anyway, here she sits, in my driveway.

Dam, nice save on that truck 58 Suburban. Here's mine. 1957, former forestry truck from North Dakota. Original paint. 6 cylinder, 3 on the tree. I recently swapped all the painted{white}front end pieces with chrome.

Re: Show me your 55-59 Suburbans/Panels please
I was very lucky with the patch panels. They were in the back of the truck when I bought it! I had a '55 Panel truck at the time and I originally bought the Sub for $500 just to get the patch panels to use on my truck and then I was going to sell the Sub again and basically get the patch panels for free. But after I had it for a couple of weeks, I decided to sell the Panel truck and do the Suburban instead. I have 4 kids and thought they would like have windows to look out of. But that meant doing everything over again on the Sub that I already had done on the Panel truck (sub-frame, A/C, posi , tilt) plus the body-work. With time and money being in short supply, it's taking me a lot longer than I had hoped.
