Re: something different 66 long travel truck
I think this post has convinced me to go the other way with my 63 i was going to cut up the frame and make the truck lay frame, but seeing this makes me think it will look tuff sitt'n up nice and high! dino how are you going to lift the back, is there someone out there that makes lift springs for the back in this year? or will 68-72 springs work also?

Re: something different 66 long travel truck
I think i am going to bag the rear, the back is no problem, there are many ways .One is there are lift springs,or a spacer for the spring, the old school way was to flip the axle on the bottom of the trailing arm that was about 4" which i dont need much lift on the rear,

Re: something different 66 long travel truck
By flip do you meen flip it over so it wil bolt in or flip as put it under the arms by moving the moiunting pads? If you move the pads to the top and reset your pinion angle then their is not ill affects. If you meen flip it over so it can bolt in then the only affects are all your forward gears *(1st, 2nd and 3rd) are now all reverce and your reverce is now your only forward gear!
Dino~ How is your tire to fender clearance when the suspention is at full bump? Do you plan any flare's or cutting? Please don't respond that you will not be taking it off road because that is not what we want to hear Kevin LFD Inc. |

Re: something different 66 long travel truck
kevin i have seen guys put the axle on the bottom of the trailing arms , looked like the pinion was fine or maybe they shimmed it, I am pretty sure that i am going to lift the rear with springs, and i have plans on using this truck to go out an thrash in , I think i have all the steering bugs worked out and think i have the bump street under control, i have planned on talking to you comming up about some ideas, this weekend all the rest of the parts should be here and i can get some work done

Re: something different 66 long travel truck
I had i little time to work on my lifted truck this weekend.( my nephew helped of course) still haven't got all my front stuff back from the machine shop.I have almost every thing mock up and i think it will all work.I switched out my rear springs with a old 3/4 ton camper special i have, that is were i also got the bed from.I had some old bag mounts and i used those for a added 4" total it went up about 10".The tires are huge and can't hardly wait to go out and thrash this truck

Re: something different 66 long travel truck
That thing looks cool as heck all lifted. I'm not a huge lifted fan, but dang... Howcome you got rid of the flatbed, was kinda quirky and unique looking for bein custom.

Re: something different 66 long travel truck
This thing looks awesome, makes me contemplate whether or not I still want to lower mine. It's only 2wd though and don't see much of a point in lifting other than looks.
