Re: I Can't believe some people

There could be the possibility that there isn`t any frame damage, it could be the the bumper bracket might be pushing the bed up on that corner...

Re: I Can't believe some people

Been thinking about this damage and it still seems strange the other vehicle could drive away, and there's no debris. Perhaps it was hit by a garbage truck or some other heavy utility vehicle. It would be easy for something like that to cause the damage and not leave a trace, who looks at the bumper of a garbage truck. Did the accident happen to occur on garbage pick up day?

Re: I Can't believe some people

Sorry to hear that. It happens all the time in Houston. Our truck got hit last month and they just left. Seems to be the way society is these days. No one wants to admit they made a mistake. Heck even when they hit you around here they take off runnig down the road and you have to chase them down Absolutley No respect anymore for other people things. I banged into a VW 30 years ago at a stoplight and I had to chase them down to offer to fix it. I think they had thought I did in on purpose I guess we will all have to start paying children to watch our stuff

Re: I Can't believe some people

That sucks, 85 mph? that sounds outrageous. Mabye if he was doing 85 mph on a moped it would have done that damage. Im no expert but any car going 85 mph will do a lot more damage than that. But can we get more pictures of the girl in the bikini?

No, it wasn't garbage day. I actually had a chance to talk with one of my neighbors and she said her husband heard the crash near 2am early Saturday morning. Our garbage day is Wednesday morning. Just found out today that my insurance refuses to pay for it unless I find out who hit it...

Guess I will start in on the short bed conversion, just gotta start saving now.

that would be good if you got that shortbed roller. It's real ****ty that it happened, but, in time, one piece at a time, you can rebuild it. Sentimental value seems to be high with this truck to you. Keep what you can from it a build a new shortbed. And if the deal on this shortbed frame falls through keep looking for one, you live in the perfect area for good deals on old trucks. Keep us posted.

Who did you have insurance with and do you have full coverage? If you do they cannot make that decision.

Re: I Can't believe some people

I have mercury. I switched my full coverage to my maxima when I got it in January. So I screwed myself. It's all good I'll learn from this great mistake. I'm waiting for the guy with the rolling chassis to email me back so I can go pick it up.

Re: I Can't believe some people

I have "agreed value" coverage on mine. I set the value at $7500 and had a local rod shop appraise it at this amount for the insurance company. This is nowhere near what it's worth to me, but it kept the premiums down. I figured if it was ever destroyed, $7500 would at least buy me something decent enough to start over with.

Re: I Can't believe some people

with the uninsured/underinsured, they should take care of it and then go after the guy whenever he is found, I would look hard at my policy and call them on it for sure.

Wait a minute, I just found this...

"Uninsured Motorist Property Damage

Uninsured motorist property damage (UMPD) coverage may seem strange, especially considering many people already have collision coverage on their car insurance. However, for careful drivers who don't have collision coverage, UMPD can be a good way to protect their car from uninsured drivers without raising their premium a lot. In addition, a lower deductible for UMPD is frequently cheaper than collision coverage with the same low deductible. UMPD does not apply in hit-and-run accidents, because UMPD coverage is cheaper than collision coverage—making it very tempting for some drivers to make a "hit-and-run" claim under their UM coverage instead of their collision coverage, or to purchase UM coverage and not have collision coverage at all."

Re: I Can't believe some people

Guess I know now not to go with that policy anymore.

- and no the deal didnt work out. I work 2 jobs so I dont know when I could have picked up the frame and the guy wouldn't accept a deposit. He wanted all the money upfront and I just was not willing to shovel out that kinda cash and possibly get ripped off. just not worth it for me at the moment.

Re: I Can't believe some people

I completely understand, Sucks when someone wont take a deposit for an agreed amount of time so we can get $ together. Been there, hated it.
